Need Opinions

Ok some of you might now that back in November I finished up my new Engine build and got 300 miles on it and spun a Main. Now since then i have moved 1300 miles from where i had the machine work done. And i don't feel like shipping the motor back to only get told there not going to cover the Warranty so i am starting to look around to just build a whole new Engine so i need some Advise on some Pistons and rods. And i really don't want to break the bank. The Current set up is TRW Pistons/ And Stock Cryo Rods with ARP Everything.

Im not looking for a massive amount of power but better then stock. I know alot of people use the Eagle H-Beams and JE Pistons but id like some other options out there for parts. I found these so far just wanted any Opinions on them.

And i dont know if these are priced as single or the package of 8.

Re: Need Opinions

All the piston you picked are 10.1:1 or higher with a 64cc Head, not ideal for a street truck. Those are SBC rods, you need a 4.3V6 rod with the 2.25" jornals (SBC are 2.10").

Re: Need Opinions

the hyper pistons are not good for NOS or turbo applications. they cant handle the heat. for our application you have to use forged pistons.

You can get those H beams with 2.22" journals. But I guess those wouldn't work, either. Would they?

Re: Need Opinions

Why not just use what you have ? Unless theres something wrong with the hard parts , polish the crank up and get some new bearings . Why not take your time going over some engine books and attempt your own hand at it . Use plastigauge and check all your bearing clearances . Got to learn sometime dont ya ??

Uhm i no how to do it and i have done it in the past but i think ive just gotten to the point of i don't want to or have the time. Although this time around i think that the way things are going i might, I just want to start fresh, These pistons are going on the 3rd time being rebuild in a motor and im looking for new rods, I also didnt do the 4 bolt main caps last time so i think that while im in there ill have that done as well. Im going to hit up a Junk yard and just get a diff block and crank and start all fresh. I figure ill get another short block ready so it goes a lil faster when i start yanking the old one out. Then from there ill just part out the other motor. Plus i want a bigger cam then the 415.

Re: Need Opinions

This is just my opinion , but if you are only looking for a marginal increase in power over stock like you say , 2 bolt mains and a 415 cam will be more than enough power . That plus your heads&turbo is at least an 11 sec combo for you if tuned properly .

Sometimes when one thing is wrong or broken , first instinct is to change other non-broken things so it all seems superior . But more times than none , you just needed to fix the one broken thing . :2cents:
