Ok, we talked about Oil... how about oil FILTERS?

Am I the only one on here crazy enough to use a System 1 oil filter:

http://www.system1filters.com/

My Syclone is the first vehicle I've run one on, but my mechanic swears by them. Said he wouldn't run a high dollar car without one. It is really nice to be able to disassemble the oil filter and see what is coming out of the motor, without having to bust out the can opener.

What kind of oil filters are you guys running?

I haven't used it YET but will.

I got this sweet filter from Dave Alwine (dalwine250 here on the board)

Its a billet reusable filter w/ stainless wire mesh for filtering. He uses one on his Ty, and crazykaese will be using them. I think Rockford uses them with all of their builds too.

whatever i can buy locally.. fram (I know junk).. a filter is a filter is a filter is a filter..

and it doesn't get driven much so I don't think it makes that big of a difference.

I use Mobil1 Oil filters, I figure that since I change my oil so frequently (every oil change has been less than 2000 miles) due lack of driving its not not going to make a huge difference.

i likes the ones that have the nut like end on them for a wrench

Fram filters have been known to collapse when coupled with high volume oil pumps. So not all are created equal in that respect. I think they're all similar in the thier filtering capabilities though.

Wix or Mobil1 for me..... one thing I noticed on the Mobil1 filter I bought last time (comparing it side by side with the Wix) is that the entry holes around the perimeter of the flange on the Mobil1 are about half the size of the holes on the Wix.... just looking at it, it looks much more restrictive to flow - I may end up switching to Wix/Napa just for that reason. I think the filtering medium/capacity on each is about the same.

i use wix, in one of our classed we took apart alot of filters, examined them, send out oil samples and i thought the wix was the best, most of the paper element filters did the best, fram sucked

I like the K&N because I can saftey wire it on. Not so important on a Sy but on a DSM they have a tendancy to back off because of the aluminium water/oil cooler.
