Re: vortec 2.02 or 2.05

Thats my combo, dont bother with the 2.05 unless your really reving high rpm. Most vortec heads wont benefit from that size over the 2.02 as they dont flow enough, you start running into making flow worse in the short turn of the runner and shrouding inbetween the chamber wall and valve, just my opinion from flow bench experience

The tighter the gap between the valves, the more susceptible to cracking.

Re: vortec 2.02 or 2.05

When Flowtech set up my heads they convinced me to stay with 2.00 as for the reasons mentioned above. They were right as I ran as high as 28- 30# boost with a 412 and later a 422 cam pushing my 4,150 lb AWD Ty into the 10.60 et range. That would put a Sy into the 10.00 to high 9 et range.

I recently rebuilt the motor and installed a set of Brodix heads and had the vortecs checked. They were still perfect. No need to push the valve size in my opinion.

bowtie block etc i see, stock compression?,I wish i had the extra cash to put more port work in my heads,i think that might be a little hp wasted, and i was wondering on a bigger turbo

Re: vortec 2.02 or 2.05

? about the Vortec heads. I have been thru the search button, but I couldn't find anything that would show that much of a difference. Being the heads flow so well with the stock 1.94 valves, Is there enough flow increase to justify putting in 2.02 valves?

It's just a six

I second the 2" ,the Vortec heads get too thin otherwise & the gain I would be pretty confident it would be a marginal gain..

Anyone? Are the 1.94 called 2" when it comes to the Vortec heads?

No.. 1.94 are 1.94 vs 2.00 are 2.00

You should have them cut to 2.00 and install Hi temp SS valves. Much better for a turbo motor.
