Re: turbo parts

Sonoma GT's don't have a turbo, not sure if you were aware of this or not. The SoGT has the same front bumper cladding as the Syclone and Typhoon, along with a Syclone-style interior (same style seats, only different embroidery), and the same style insturment cluster, minus the boost "gauge". The rest of the cladding is SoGT specific. Standard engine is the N/A 4.3L CPI, and they were 2wd only. They are the rarest (and probably most underapreciated) of the three Sportmachines.

Re: turbo parts

You have a few choices. You can either get a Syclone or Typhoon engine, computer and wiring harness and use that, or custom build a turbo system for your engine. Doing so will require custom tuning and possibly a stand alone system. There is no "kit" available for the 4.3. It is possible to boost a N/A engine, however the safe boost limit will be significantly lower than what the SyTy engine was designed for. Parts for these engines are expensive and hard to come by, but it has been done.

Re: turbo parts

Exhaust manifolds, turbocharger, wastegate (if external), downpipe, oil lines, coolant lines (if its a water cooled turbo), an intercooler system is almost required, all the necessary intake plumbing, 2 bar MAP sensor (if going from N/A to boosted), custom chip for the ECM, (or possibly a stand-alone fuel management system), upgraded fuel pump is recommended. If you want to use a turbo with an internal wastegate, you'll need a way to control its operation as well (stock SyTy is via the ECM). Thats just off the top of my head, there's probably more I'm forgetting.

Don't waste your time and money dude. All these parts will add up to over 4k. Plus custom tuning(chip, burner, adapter, data log, laptop, usb data log cable) 2k, then you will not have the traction you need to support the boost add another 2k in suspension. You are at 8k. Not to mention all the labor and dedication you will have to put into it, And the resale value of your truck will still be that of an s-10.

Just my 2cents. Get a REAL SYTY.

Re: turbo parts

Unless I missed it, nobody has mentioned a transmission and converter that can handle the added power, so add another $2K minimum to whatever else was listed above :D

hope you got deep pockets. Otherwise do a V8 swap.

Re: turbo parts

the 700r4 thats in now would fine for the time being only lookin to push 5 to 10 psi nothing too crazy yet

5 psi is alot different than 10 psi, but you will need to upgrade you tranny for 10 psi. SyTy came a 700R4 with all the Corvete Upgrades and a better valve body. Your going to kill a stock S-10 700R4, your truck's transmission wasn't intend for 400+ ft-lbs of torque.

Re: turbo parts

dunno, maybe with lots of fab-work. They do make bolt-on super chargers fort them, that might make more sense. That would be bolt on and no guess work
