What is the correct way to smooth these?

I'm going to be painting my Typhoon at some point. I would like to smooth out the body lines that are in between the door and rear glass and the rear glass and the rear hatch. What is the best way to do this?
Here are some pictures.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

you cant one boost launch and they will be back they7 are they to allow the body to flex, unless you add a cage or some other method of chassis stifen you have to have them

Yea every mini truck guy that ive seen try to fill them with body filler has never held. The body filler cracks and comes out pretty quick. You could always weld them shut and grind it smooth but im sure that would cause some kind of problems down the road.

I had filler in my rear ones for years, never really had a problem until it sat in recent years. I plan on welding mine up next time since I will have to do a complete repaint.

I'm glad I posted this. I figured this would be an easy thing to do, but if it is going to crack I might as well leave it like it is.
Is there anyone out there that has good luck with filling these lines without cracking?

Thanks for all of the help,

Nick

Mine are welded and have never cracked.

You saw mine at Chitown back in 02 I believe... Still no cracks. ;)

The B and C pillars are actually just glued from the factory.
Remember when crazy Dan put a new roof skin on his Ty?

I somewhat remember yours, its been a while now. Yes I remember Dan and his Typhoon roof. He's actually the one who is going to paint my truck for me.
Do you have pictures of yours Jas?

Thanks,
Nick

Re: What is the correct way to smooth these?

Just weld them, and smooth of course. It is a seam not a flex point. If done right there will be no problems. Be very careful or the heat will shrink the metal and cause big problems. I would hit a couple of spots and go to the other side. Bounce around the different areas to keep the heat from building up. I had a tailgate skin warp by trying to weld a continous line. I learned the hard way.

I welded my buddys 91 extended cab roof line and its still holding. Make sure you take out the paneling before u do so you can keep an eye on it from the inside and dont burn it down

I thought Dan welded his roof, but its been a while since I have seen his Ty. The paint on his Ty is so nice:drool:
