Six-is-Enough
Use to do a little Boost
Well all I can say is any day spent with Mike Dobrick and Jeff Scott will be one to rember.
A group of us were suppose to head to the drag strip today in Cincy. Meeting time was 11 am at my shop. John B Nesbeth and his cousin John B Reallywill show up early at 10:30. His Sy started missing on way over and he wants to try changing the plugs to see if it helps. Well since being a seasoned Sy/Ty owner, I have a new set of NGK URI5's laying around. So we start changing'em. In the procees of changing plugs we find two plug boots burnt and damaged. What do you know I also have some old plug wires around too. Get it all done and it is 11:30. NO Jeff or Dobrick. WTF
Give Dobrick a ring on his cell they are almost here in Jeff's Texas rat Sy. They blame running late on DQ drive through. Yea right. Finally get rolling to track at 11.40ish with 3 sy's running. John B's truck still is missing badly. He says to keep on driving and he is going to double back and go to Napa to get a new set of wires, distributor cap, and rotor. 1 syclone down.
Tri-State raceway is 2 hours away and we have gotten off to late start, so we are getting after it to make up time. We were averaging about 85 mph on 2 lane highways:lol: with plenty of traffic to pass. A little over 1/2 way Dobrick and Jeff pull off the road in the Rat. Smoke is rolling out from underneath and it is making a loud clunking noise. After a quick inspection we determine front dif is toast! 2nd Syclone down. At this point and time I figure the day is wasted and no way we can make to the track.
But Jeff says no matter what we will make to the track. So we limp the rat back to a town, Versalies, IN, we had just passed. Leaving rat at McD's parking lot. Jeff and Dobrick decide they are going to ride the rest of the 50 or so miles with me. Only 1 little problem. My Truck is a Syclone and my 4 year old son has tagged along. So Jeff and Mike climb into the bed of my SY. Leaning up against the rear of the cab with their upper torso sticking out of the tonneau cover!!
Did I mention it was only reaching the 50 degree mark for highs today!! Luckily I had one toboggan in my truck and Dobrick being the little girl he is snatched it right up. After much laughter and several strange looks from McDonalds customers we are back on the road. Rolling 4 deep in my Syclone.
After about 25 miles and much apprehension about passing three police officers, none of them came after us luckily, I realize I have my open face White helmet in the Cab for racing. At a stop light I offer my helmet to Jeffrey, which he took gladly. So I am rolling down the road with Jeff wearing my bright white helmet and Dobrick in the back of my truck. Needless to say we got a few stares, not the the good kind. Well we finally make it to the track and go to the gate. Pay window ladies don't even bate an eye. Asks Jeff if he is racing or just spectating!:rotf:
Luckily everything at the track went well. Check out the racing forum for results.
Ohh BTW there is Video to follow shortly of the two fools in the back of a Syclone.
