TN almost gained another Sy

Just got back from a 13.5 hour drive round trip with the intent to bring Sy 0252 home from Arkansas to Tennessee. Jamie was a nice guy but I didn't get to spend alot of time there since I have to be at work at 3 AM. I decided to pass on the truck which was a hard decision after driving 6.25 hours to get it. It's a decent platform BUT the headliner is completely loose, carpet stained orange in a large spot, jack / handle / cover missing, tailgate handle bent, tailgate scrapes bumper cover when opening or closing, bed had a spray in liner inside and up over the bed rails, truck had a hitch installed for 2 years (frame drilled and scraped so I inquired), windshield chip was more like a 5 inch round affected area, wheel finish gone on all with 1 lip gouged, truck repainted at some point with runs and obvious areas with bondo repair (DS) and thread showing through the Ditto DR's. Lots of smudge around the entire tranny/transfer case area. Maybe someone else can bring this one back to life.....it is not bad but I am very particular and was not aware of these faults in the pre-sale terms. In the end, I would expend more than this truck would ever be worth. Not at all trying to bash Jamie or his SY.....just owe it to any other potential forum buyer on here to know what they will be up against before wasting a trip like I did.

No, I did not since there were other buyers (?) waiting for it. You'd really have to know me to understand what I look for in a potential vehicle and that one wasn't coming to my house for even $3,500. It would require $10G easy to get right. Most of the high $$$ engine parts were sold (which I already knew about) so I figured $4,200 (truck) + $4 for engine (and key part) replacement and I'd have a decent runner for $8,500 (spent $100 in fuel during the trip). Add to that a paint job, interior work, who knows about the tranny since the Sy towed a Seadoo (?), wheel refinish work, new tires, fuel system (truck hasn't ran since 2001) etc etc and you see my dilemma. I'll learn someday; when it sounds too good to be true......:). Decent guy though and I hope he sells it.

T-Bone, how can he be a decent guy if you didn't know about any of this? It sounds like almost everything on the truck needed work.

Not trying to start trouble, but I would have been pissed.

Yeah no shit.
IMO integrity is a dying attribute in this country.

What gets me,is,do you think I'm freaking retarded and won't notice what is FUBAR aboot the POS you are selling?

****. I was born at night, but not last night.

Be honest, keep it real, don't send someone on a long journey only to find that you are blind or a scumbag.

We will notice stuff. We will inspect.

You can't hide so don't try,bitches.

I hear you but my intent is not to tear him down or tarnish his reputation since I hardly know him. I wasn't a bit happy about wasting the time and money involved but he is a soldier and so am I, so I guess I overlooked what could have been an honest mistake (?). I did feel obliged to air the true condition of the truck for other interested parties......same courtesy I would expect from any other member on this forum. Hope that all makes sense.

That I understand, you were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

You also thought about your fellow SyTyer's, always appreciated.
