Hydroboost + Manual steering

So i'd love to ditch the vacuum brakes, but have decided to ditch power steering. What i'm wondering is if anyone knows of an electrical power steering pump, or electric oil sump or have any experience with something like that?

I did a quick google search and it seems like this sorta thing exists...but i'm wondering what, if any, experience there is around here w/ such a pump.

the new escapes have electric assist steering. If you play with bore size and pedal multiplication you can get away with no assist at all,

There are also quite a few s-10's in the junkyard with just non-power brakes.
In fact the twin turbo v8 syclone has a manual rack and non-power brakes.

You might want to ask protosy about it...

Why don't you install a manual rack, and just leave the PS pump hooked up to the hydroboost?

becuase whats the point of having manual steering if you still are driving a ps pump

As for brakes...
The grand national also used a electric hydroboost setup called "PowerMaster"

Ed Hess had one installed at one point. Not sure if he still does though...

Oops... I just realized that you posted the picture in that one...

I think there is also more electric power steering setups for street rods as well. I may have to go look at some of the goodguys magazines and look for an ad...

A completely different direction would be to keep the vacuum brake booster and add an electric vacuum pump to supplement the engine's vacuum (or lack thereof at times). Several Caddilacs had them as standard equipment.....

I don't see a point to running manual steering and hydroboost brakes.....And trying to rig an electric pump to help with brakes seems overly complicated compared to just helping the vacuum booster work properly....

But that's just me....
