I know TTS sells them, but what was the guy's name that originally wrote the program? Is he still around here? TIA.

Steve Cole, wasn't it? I can't remember to be sure.....my memory is fading from the time when I first got into tuning.

Re: Who developed Datamaster?

Steve from TTS called and left me a message, I think you are right. That name just didn't ring a bell, I thought it was someone else.

Hi Wade. Sales are going well, thanks!

Re: Who developed Datamaster?

Actually guys, I believe Steve Cole is the guy in charge of TTS, but not the actual author of DataMaster. Another fellow named "Gary" is the author of the software, to the best of my knowlege.

Now why should you believe me instead of everyone else? Well, I was in contact with Gary and he actually wrote a custom "LG5" edition of DataMaster for me to beta test with my 1990 Pontiac Turbo Grand Prix ('730 ECM). What a Hell of a guy!!!!

Unfortunately, his email address no longer works and I have been trying to get in contact with him to ask about the DataMaster .UNI binary record format. If anyone knows the updated contact info, please let me know!

Finally, Gary used to be a member here on SyTy.net: http://www.syty.net/forums/member.php?u=825 Unfortunately, someone cocked him off (perhaps not realizing who he was) and it drove him off the site for good. What a damn shame... Especially considering that tons of fast trucks on the stock ECM basically owe their timeslips to Gary's brilliant DataMaster software (I know I do!!!)

Rob (WYOSYCLONE) talked to him recently, I think... I think he had contact info, as well.

You can kinda figure the .uni format out, if you look at it.... it's very regular, frame by frame.
A few days of tinkering with it, and you'd end up with a spec. Ian and I messed with it a bit, didn't really have the time to devote to fully deciphering it.

Yea, I got it fully figured out for lazy project I have been working on. Its pretty strait forward if you grab the ALDL manual and a hex editor.

Re: Who developed Datamaster?

Where can I get "the ALDL manual"? Do you have any docs or pointers? I assume it's just a series of frames of equal length with the same data in well-known positions in each frame?
