Hello sweetness...

Ceramic coated spark plug heat shields, ex. housing, DP & x-over w/ polished PTE60.
What a PITA to remove the pass. side exhaust stuff!

ES Poly motor mounts. Comaprison: One on the left is for 4.3. One on the right is for SBC.
I'm installing the ones for the 4.3 'cause I don't want to screw with the frame pads with the motor in.

What are you using on the frame? Those poly's are huge...have you test fitted with them yet? Seems like the motor will sit up too high, esp with the trans being close to the tunnel anyway.

If you compare the short ES against the stockers, you'll see that they're way shorter.
The 4.3 ones appear to be closer to stock height.

One thing about the short ones... the design of the frame pad side is such that air can circulate below the mount. With the stock frame pad, this can't happen.

I'd be ultra-paranoid about heat isolation with the 4.3 mounts. There's no margin for error.
I'd estimate the SBC mounts sit up 1/2" higher than the stockers, or so.

I've got some 1/4" ceramic kiln insulation that will be applied to the heat shields along with some reflective insulation. Hopefully that will do the trick.

Re: Goodbye old & rusted...The Ty gets updated.

Here's where I'm at after yesterday.
Installed March AC pulley cover, chrome receiver/drier bracket.
Removed PS/alt. bracket, radiator fan, intake manifold, rocker arms, pushrods & lifters. My intake gaskets looked to be OK, but I was surprised by the amount of oil betwen the gasket & the intake manifold. Maybe they were leaking around the lifter valley.
Cleaned up dirty inner fenders.
My To Do List:
Lifters, pushrods & rockers are going to be replaced along with some new valve guide seals.
Upper & lower intakes, & both front engine brackets are going out to be powdercoated.
Install Typhoon logo plate on upper intake.
Install some more chromed goodies.
Replace motor mounts.
Install Griffin radiator & SPAL fans.
Relocate map, coil & EGR solenoid.
Install new control arm bushings, ball joints, pitman arm, torsion bar mounts, then new tires.

I hope to get the motor mounts done today. It looks like the motor has been out before due to the pass. motor mount heat shield is installed wrong. Someone put the mount against the block first then put the shield on. looks like it's gonna be a bitch to get off.

Re: Goodbye old & rusted...The Ty gets updated.

I have a hard time getting motivated, but once I start it's hard to stop.
The biggest problem I have is knowing when to stop. I keep seeing things I want to change. And when I bought the Ty I told myself it would stay stock.

I think I'm going to unbolt the trans mount, unbolt the 2 motor mount bolts, attach my hoist & lift as high as I can to give me some added room to remove the mounts from the block.

LOL.
Now, thanks to Ken, I've decided to check the rod bearings & replace if needed, replace the timing chain, engine balancer & oil pump. :rotf:
POS will probably never run again.

I dropped my upper & lower intakes, front brackets, cruise brackets & IC tubing off @ the powdercoaters on Saturday. They will all be coated in teh Super Chrome. <bling> Then the fuel rail's headed to the chrome shop </bling>

I like it.
I like polished as well. It's just too much work to maintain polished aluminum, especially if it gets driven regularly & I don't want to be stuck polishing aluminum on a regular basis.

you can still get polished coted. but mind you polished is expensive although worth it in my eyes.

Thanks Ken, but since I've been changing stuff out on the Syclone the Ty is getting some of the hand-me-downs & the aluminum timing cover is one of those.

Picked up the powdercoated parts today & set some of them in place to see how they look.
Much better than the old dull crusty look.

A nice looking upgrade from the stock balancer.
The Pioneer crank balancer arrived today. It appears to have a clear powdercoat on it.
