As slow as Jumbilias at the Chicago Nats?
i dunno what took longer....his turbo spooling....or for it to stop spinning after shutting off the motor

i also havent switched to synthetic yet, still running conventional for the break-in.

would syntheitc help it spool. or how about if i got a desk fan to blow into the compressor?!?!?!

Re: 1/8th mile shakedown

just checked the plugs, and they are perfect! and consistent, hard to tell one from the other.

ok, looking over my run logs, i see "Premium Fuel Active" is on, when the RPMs are high, then turns off when they drop. does this have anything affect?

Re: 1/8th mile shakedown

you should take that autozone airfilter off and see how it spools. I know that requires moving the radiator out a little, but it couldnt hurt.

thats gotta be it. i'm gonna research the HKS mushroom filters and find out the dimensions.

this is what i'm running now, right on the turbo inlet.

it has that reverse cone on the inside, which is probably a huge restriction.

i'll run it tonight without a filter on it. then maybe try on of these.

Re: 1/8th mile shakedown

hose clamp some screen over the inlet at least. I would hate to see by some freak accident something get sucked in.

Re: 1/8th mile shakedown

i ran the steel screen tonight. very little improvement. no improvement on initial spool, or RPMs. it did, make the turbo a ton louder. which the neighbor's didnt care for.

i have noticed that i spooled quicker when i ran rich.. not lean. Tomorrow, i'll bump my AFRs down more for spooling.

Re: 1/8th mile shakedown

It looks like you have just about exhausted your tuning avenues for improved spool up. It has got to be the converter. Take it out and get it restalled to 3500 rpm's. Your issue should be solved.

This could be some of the issue too after the shift if the converter is to tight.

Re: 1/8th mile shakedown

i'll start looking into rebuilding the converter.

are there any eastcoast shops that rebuild & restall 9/11 converters?

also, what kinda cost?

EDITED:
just called TCS, $200 for a full 9/11 rebuild to any stall i want, different stator, new clutches. only prob is shipping to AZ. hmmm

Re: 1/8th mile shakedown

if i add timing, my RPMs go up right?, so i'm gonna try bumping my timing up when i launch. see if that helps bring the flash RPMs up.

last night i managed a 5psi launch, but could only spin the motor to 2500rpms. Cam's powerband starts at 3000/3200rpms, so it had torque off the launch, but not hp. fell on its face.

i've noticed that a richer AFR transition in the higher boost 10psi-20psi, the turbo spools incredibly fast. but down low from 0psi-10psi, my AFRs have to be leaner.

so i'm running 10-20psi at 11.5afr, and run 14.7afr from idle to 3psi.

14 degrees of timing from 7psi-20psi. and in the 0psi-5psi, i'm gonna advance the timing to see if i can get more RPMs for a launch.

still no knock. i get about 1.3 degrees when it shifts, but it quickly leaves.

:eh: ???????????????????

I'll help you out so you will not make this statement ever again.

HP= TQ x RPM/5252

well final verdict.

AT BEST, it stalls at 2600, and flashes at 3000.

Appeared to be a 2200rpm stall on Saturday. You're such the optimist.

the datalogs on Sat. showed 2350. previously i had it up to 2600. still not enough.

pending on my schedule this week, i might yank the trans this week, and send the converter out.

3200 should be enough, with my motor.

at least the brakes held that 1psi of boost in the grass.

thanks again Josh

3200 should be sweet. If you need help removing the trans let me know, I can stop down some evening.

stuck on the last bellhousing bolt. the one right next to the knock sensor.

Longest extention combo you can make with a swivel and come at it from where the transfer case is. I do this for both top ones and it take literally 5 seconds each with an impact
