1" lowering question

Searched (which I'm not good at for whatever reason:() but no joy. If I want to lower the rear of the Sy 1" do I need setback plates? Thinking I might do this this winter. For looks I'd like to fill the wheel arches more evenly front to back. Keeping the rears centers obviously.

Thanks.

Re: 1" lowering question

Don, the 2" blocks I had needed the setback plates for sure. I would throw a 1" block in there and see how it looks. Remember that the setback plate will lower is another 3/8 or so, so maybe start with a 3/4" block?

We make lowering blocks with the alignment pin already offset, no need for a setback plate. We locate the pin according to the size drop, each drop will move the pin more. This also corrects the offset from the factory.

Here is a link to our blocks:

I have as set of 1 3/8" drop blocks that we initially made for Len (STOUT74) that the offset set is not perfect, off by a little over 1/8 inch. Hardly noticeable. They were also machined out to reduce weight. I would let go real cheap.

Here is a pic of Lens truck with the 1 3/8" drop:

Thanks, nice piece. I'll print this link and add it to my to-do list. That pic is just about exactly what I'm looking for.

The above truck has either weight in the bed or lowering spring with those blocks. Here is my Syclone with Belletch lowering springs which dropped my truck 1.5" in the rear.

Re: 1" lowering question

The first truck look like it has the same tire/arch spacing as mine. I'm much higher in the rear. I wonder if my truck was lowered somewhere in the past. I know I didn't do it. I've never even touched the bar adjusters.

The method in the manual to check height looks very ambigious. Maybe someone can measure the front say, frame to ground, or some other quick check.

Thanks.

Re: 1" lowering question

My rear arches were ~30 1/2" from the ground when it was stock. (The driverside was 30.25")

I think John grabbed that pic from my latest thread. I haven't re-adjusted my rear coilovers yet from the redistribution of the weight with the new gas tank in that pic. I do have some weight in the back, 20 gallon gas tank, battery & 10 gallon intercooler tank.;)

This is more representative pic of what the truck looks like when it's set up. This is prior to the new gas tank with the 1.375" blocks we make.

Personally, I think a 1.375" to 1.5" drop is just right for these trucks. I went 1.375" since I have some adjustment with the coilovers. Any more, on hard launches, you might run the risk of hitting the cladding. I found some pics of before & after with my first set of blocks. These are the same ones John mentioned earlier on the cheap. The last pic is of the actual blocks. The offset was still slightly off for me, around .135 or a little more that 1/8", so we made another set.

After with first set of blocks for sale:

this is why i asked you in your other thread what your setup was, my truck now is just too low and ive been having a tough time finding pics of sy's with belltech leafs and figuring out what block if any i want to run with them..
glad this thread popped up, thanks don..;)

no battery or anything in your bed? and thats all they ended up settling to was 1.5" from a 3" drop leaf

I have a battery where the spare tire was mounted, but I don't normally carry a spare tire.

The 3" drop is for regular S-10's. SyTy's already have lowering springs from the factory, so that is why we don't get a 3" drop.

do you have setback plates with them? or have any idea if the belltechs help any with the centering of the wheel where they put the pin? It might be kind of hard to tell since it doesnt look that low, and the lower you go the worse the centering gets.
thanks

Re: 1" lowering question

I don't have set back plates. The springs seem to line up the wheels properly.

BTW my avatar picture is with the stock springs.
