I started a Built engine thread couple years ago and didnt really take off like I planned. The time has come to where I'm able to finally build my Spare block. I'm goin to a Local shop that just recently built a Engine for a member and has had great results and happy with the shop. It's not guna be a rush job and just want to make sure it's done right and the proper parts.
I will be Supplying the Eagle Rods, Block, Stock Crank. I will further talk to the owner and see if they will get the 4 bolt main caps or me. I will also have the Crank nitrated by a local shop also that the above member had done. Not totally sure if I want to Partial/Half fill the Block as I drive it a lot on the street. Also, will be talkin about what Pistons to run.
The Shop uses DSS Pistons a lot and the Ty member is running them now also. They are light and Forged. They said I can use whatever Pistons I want once they figure out what Bore I need. I know a lot of guys use JE or Diamond pistons just don't want to spend a crap ton if a Certain lower level piston will be enough for me. Any thoughts?
Since I'm running E85 now I would like to Raise the Compression. Was thinking 9.5:1 or 10:1 and run less Boost to make the same/more power. How high should I run "Safely" on Corn??
I'll be updating this Thread once I actually take the Block to the shop in a couple weeks and made this now to Soak in some more knowledge as to what to tell the shop vs what they prefer.
Thanks!!
