2003 BMW M3 18" wheels

I just bought some 03 BMW M3 18" wheels. They are gun metal finish with some very small dings. Ive measured them and they are damn close to the factory wheel plus the rear is 10" wide.

Anyway they look pretty cool and I got a set of 4 for couple hundred bucks. Not bad for some cheap wheels. Just thought I would post to let poeple know of another option.

pattern is the same

Ive heard of some others on here saying that 3 series fronts fit and 5 series rears. OR somethin like that. I went to look at the wheels last weekend I figured the fronts would fit and the rears looked really close. SO I brought them home, sure enough fit is great. I have to find some good looking nuts and the small center caps.

The guy at the beemer dealer said that he gets customers in alot that ding the wheels up and just go ahead and buy new ones. ( they normaly dont mention they can get them fixed for 50 bucks)

I would really like to see your Sy. I know another fellow Ty owner who would kill to see it as well. Is it road worthy. I drive a 93 green grey Ty and is stock as they come. Lunch/Dinner anytime you name the place. I'm fairly familiar with Lewy Town.

nope, motor is out of it right now. I have a billet stroker crank, rods and pistons on order. I also bought a new PTE 74 GT to gone on it. I have the old motor which is going off to get the new AC bracket built so I can mount the 74 and still have an AC.. I hope this bitch will run 10's in july or august when its done.

In August the truck will roll out of the garage like this

stroker block
stg 3 McCoy heads full roller
cam
Atr headers
dual air to air
PTE 74 GTQ
heavily ported upper and lower with throttle body
speedpro
18" tires and wheels
BIG ASS brakes ( I havent decided which ones yet)
coil over front suspension ( working with chassis shop now)
Maybe a coil over rear with a ladder bar setup.

THe only thing that will delay me is the chassis work. Cosmeticaly the truch is show room. It spent 6 years in storage I got it with 20 something K on the meter. I was really hopping to go to the nats with it but I dont think it will make it. I sure as hell will though!!!!

also curious (this is for everyone who might know):

since OEM 3 series rims bolt right up, is it safe to assume that aftermarket rims for the 3 series will do the same? the bmw's have some gorgeous 18 and 19" rims, and it'd be great if i could use those for my truck - itd add about a billion more options.

Any ideas?

Interesting info. I thought that E46 BMW's are using a different pattern. I agree that the E46 M3 wheels are killer. A bit too large for my taste, but nice for sure. Would be nice to see them mounted on your truck...

BTW all the BMW wheels are metric, the ones, which could be good for us has a 5x120mm pattern. Our pattern is 5x4.75", which equals 5x120.65mm. So it fits, but not a perfect match.

I have a set of 03 m-5 wheels will they fit on my ty?

That's E39. AFAIK, E39 5er's are using the 5x120mm lug pattern as well. Generaly speaking there were two different patterns at BMW. 5x120mm and 4x100mm I haven't seen any other ones...

I've got 18" BMW aftermarket wheels and they look and fit great :D I'm running 255/35/18's to keep the overall aspect ratio lower than the stock tires. Wish I could go a bit wider without going taller than the stockers though.

jeremy -

5x120 bolted right up, all the way around? also, what kind of offset did the rims have? did you need spacers or anything?

i only ask because they look fantastic on your truck and now my interest is sparked towards aftermarket 18s made for a BMW 3 series...

Mike - they fit like they were made for the truck, no shit. Here are the specs:

13mm rear, 38mm front, 24 lbs. each

With 255/35/18 tires, the overall tire diameter is actually shorter than the stockers so you won't incur any performance hit. I weighed the wheels and tires before installing them and they're between 3-5 lbs. heavier than the stock wheel/tire combo. I'm really happy with these. Be sure to post pics if you get aftermarket rims

Mine look really nice I love the BMW gunmetal finish. I have them in a shop now gettting some small dings removed from the edge. Thats only gonna cost 80 bucks for the 4 of them. Soon as I get them back I have to slap some tires on there. You guys have any opinions of good 18" tires that dont cost an arm and a leg.

As I recall, one of the European mail list members (back in, maybe 1997) went thru checking out BMW wheel fitment. The only thing he said to watch for is that the center hole on the BMW wheels is larger, so the wheels are lug-centric, not hub-centric. Not a big deal if you mount them very carefully. That 0.65mm difference in lug pattern will matter if you tighten one lug too much before the others are snugged. The wheel will be off center by .325 mm. Not much, but you'd probably feel it at speed.
