GM is wanting to the buyer to build em now, they will sell you the car/truck then you can go get a GM performance parts catalog and buy your supercharger or whatever else they offer all without voiding the warranty. They are offering a supercharger for the sunfires/cavilers now, and I wouldnt be suprised if one comes out for this SS thing, which would make it one bad mother. It kinda seems like the ricer way to go about it, buy a slow ass vehicle and then spend a bunch of money to make it fast. From what I have heard and read this is the way GM wants to do it, but none the less things are actually looking up.

Speaking of the cavaliers, is anyone else ready to puke everytime you see a pro-stock cavalier on ESPN2 for NHRA racing?

I love the idea of buying a silverado SS for $39k then buying a supercharger kit, installing it, etc... Then having spent 10k more than a lightning to have a truck that's going to have stellar GM quality and reliability.

:fist: GM

Sometimes corporate thinking needs a colonic, flush out the bad ideas,
Infuse some new ideas, lock up the bean counters, and misplace the key for awhile...

Corporations that tend to lead & create new products that are not only highly dependable, but also revolutionary are the corporations that will succeed long term...

GM should stop relying on the ad dept to push sales by creating a superior revolutionary product... Take some of that R&D and put it to use... Create new methods of assembly and tooling... If this would occur they GM wouldn't have to spend a large budget on Advertising as people would seek out their products money-in-hand with a large smile... Unfortunately, if you've got a CEO and a bunch of board members worried about cost cuts, share revenues, and soccer moms then it's doubtful anything revolutionary will ever make it to the production line...

I too have lost faith in GM, killing the F-body, I'm still in denial. I'll agree '96 was when it started to go south, with the end of the Impala SS. Check out the new mercury maurader, that'll really make you sick. Most every law enforcement department in the country used to buy the Caprice, now what do they buy? Ford Crown Vics. Mabye if they actually spent some advertising dollars on the F-body instead of stupid SUVs they would have sold more, I think the last commercial I saw was soon after they restyled it in 93', I think it used a Hendrix song? The Silverado SS, if it was a standard cab, it would more exciting, but GM sells more ext cabs. The SSR? what an overpriced joke. There does seem to be some hope, the new GTO, but its really sad when an american muscle car has to be imported from another country. What is this crap GM has been doing resurecting classic names and slapping them on front wheel drive junk? Impala? (seen the commercial where they compare it with a 60's Impala) Monte Carlo? (SS? what a joke why cant they put a supercharger on it like the GTP) Etc Etc.... GM had a chance at FWD performance, in the early 90's the Quad 4 had all kind of parts available through GM back then, and made awsome power, but what happened, they were ahead ot the tuner trend. Here's something that makes no sense, in the early 90' the Beretta GTZ/GTU came with a 180hp quad 4, now with the new supercharger kit for the 2.4 TC (decendant of the quad 4) it is supposed to make 190hp, I dont understand!!!!?!? A 2.2 normally asperated engine makes 10 hp less that a supercharged 2.4?? WTF??

Oh, yea as for a new "syclone", search for the S-10s replacement , code named "colorado" it will be a mid-size truck like the Dodge Dakota, powerplants will be based on the new dohc I6, GM plans to base a I4 and I5 based on this engine, one of the engines listed as possible powerplants is a turbocharged I5. The "colorado" may be only available as an extended cab though, suck.

Fuck GM :fist:

The Impalla SS was not that great, it pretty much sucked, it was a mouse motor in a big car. My dad had one when a dealer let him keep it over the weekend, he almost bought it, then he drove the GTP. That car shows that not all of GM sucks, mainly Chevy, & GMC. Pontiac driving excitment, now that rules.

Ron, nah I'm not going to slam ya in this post...

Rember the Lambo from Dumb and Dumber? Yeah, that car belonged to Mr. Emich of Emich dealerships of Colorado. He loaned them his car to use for that movie which really was filmed in Colorado. I'm wondering if that's the same Lambo you guys saw this weekend...could be but there's other millionaires in Colorado besides him...

since when has a 5.7L V8 been a small mouse motor?
These are the power outputs...note the TQ.
Horsepower 260
Torque (lb-ft) 330

Also, the SS weighed 4100lbs, where the camaro of that year (z28) weighed 3650.
2 real backs seats, lots of leather, and a trunk is worth it to me.
and is a sleeper!

5.7 has always been a mouse motor. Small blocks are mouse motors, and big blocks a Rats! thats the way it has always been.

Yeah but we all know that it's getting a caddy badge and will be priced around 55 to 60k. Well out of the original price range of 30k for a new Ty.

Of course it wouldn't a stretch to add the same driveline & powerplant to the new Colorado...but GM won't. Fucking Pussies. There is no Real affordable performance now.
