just some dealer info including my rpo codes and the vehicle inquiry system information. Nothing overly informative, but 'fun' nonetheless to have a copy of

Campaign = Recall in GM speak

#93010, oil filter adapter

Basicly they replace the oil filter adapter, filter and drain and refill the oil.

Something about the adapter bieng improperly drilled and allowing unfiltered oil to bypass.

When we import vehicles to canada all recalls must be performed to pass the inspection.

this would require bringing the truck into a GM dealer to do the work..

that is one hell of a scarey thought.. I don't trust dealerships at all..
although one local one I know the parts guy.. maybe he would let me work with or at least watch the techs do the work..

they replace the remote oil filter adapter? hrmmmmmm

You can still get this done at any dealer? What do you ask when you call the dealer?

That depends, not all trucks were affected by this campaign. You would have to call a dealer and have them run the VIN# for you to see if it was affected and if it has been done.

Just ask them if there are any opne campaigns on yer vin.

When I'm back in work (I work at a GMC dealership) I can check on anyone's truck if they have a recall or not, I just need the last eight numbers of the V.I.N. It takes a good one minute.
I will be going back to work either this monday or next monday.

Well, the only problem with running a VIN inquiry is that GM's database for vehicles going back that far is dropping off considerably. Your particular VIN may or may not show up in the system. It's kind of hit & miss going back that far. Now I have no idea why they would drop off VINs at all, considering it's the easiest way for a dealer to find out if there's an open recall (campaign) on a vahicle. The fact that Renz's VIN showed up when I ran it was kind of a fluke, I guess. My VIN, on the other hand doesn't show up. I'm trying to run VIN inquiries on all of the Sy's and Ty's before the info is gone forever. Then I can database the info. This is a project I just started last week, and it's probably going to take me quite a long time. I'm up to 1025 on the Sy's. I figure I'll be done with the Sy's in a couple of weeks. (I do it in my spare time at work.) But if your vehicle doesn't come up on a VIN inquiry, the only way you could tell if your vehicle is involved in a campain/recall is to check the individual recall, and verify your VIN against the VIN breakpoints of vehicles involved.(Which you would have to call the dealer to do). And even then, it would be pretty hard to tell if the recall has been done or not if there's no campaign decal on the core support anymore.

Now one strange thing I noticed was that almost all of the Sy's that come up so far on the VIN inquiry show to have a recall open. I'm gonna have to look into it and see what the campaign entails...or if it's really a recall at all. I'll try to keep everyone posted on my progress.

At this point in time the only way a Sy or Ty will show up under GM VIS is if it has a recall open, if for some crazy reason the GMPP (gm protection plan) warrenty is still active, or if something very recently has changed on the vehicle (i.e. vehicle went to a flood status, or warrenty expired, again very very rare at this time). If the vehicle does not meet any of the things it will not show up under GM VIS, It will come up on the parts section, but you can only get limited information from that side.

Sorry Ryan, your Sy doesn't come up. Which, as Nick was exactly correct about, is a good and a bad thing. It means that your Sy doesn't have any open recalls, but it also means we can't find out which dealership your Sy was delivered to unless you happen to have the original window sticker.
