Hi guys, hoping someone can give me some good info. I am wondering if a 3000 stall p.i. converter will benefit my stock turbo ty, or will it hurt my performance until I upgrade the turbo. I've read that the ideal stall speed for stock turbo is around a 2800...just wanting to run a better 1/8th mile....thanks in advance.

From what I understand you probably will have turbo spike problems. I have a 2600 and put a Forge wastegate in to control mine, but I have a high flow cat and an upgraded cam and head. Stock is around a 2200 stall. I like how increasing my stall helped lower my spool time though.

Re: 3000 stall converter??

the sweet spot for that converter on a stock heads/ cam truck is
a 60-1 or slightly bigger- turbo( turbonetics stage 5/atr cheetah etc)

too big you need heads & can with raised shift points

too small you run out of rpm before the turbo gets going

Re: 3000 stall converter??

Yea, i have a 6265 but didn't want to install it yet. But I am swapping the transmission here soon, so I thought I go ahead and install the converter at the same time. But, looks like I should just wait. Thanks for the input guys.

If you are gonna install the 6265 on this motor, I would just install the TC now... Better to do it once instead of twice...
