3500 Cummins.

Just got home from getting ice cream and going for a walk with my wife. On the way, we decided to see if anyone was out. There were surprisingly a few peeps out. So Im heading down the road and this big guy in a big Cummins TD truck tries messin with me. we go from about a 50 roll and I just made him look silly. So we stop at a light and I was still slowing down from the run and missed the roll bar by about 2 cars. I backed up. He asks me what I got. I say a V6. He syas what did you put in it? I said a chip and exhaust. Didnt have time to tell him anything else except to go home and look up SYTY's on the internet. He starts spooling up and I say what the hell, I spool up too and we go, guy never had a chance. He definately thoguth he was the shit thoguh.

I guy at work with a 2500 cummins told me today that he could take my Typhoon.. i laughted and ask how much HP was he putting out he said aroun 500.
my partner looked at him and said no you want take the TY he is a mechinec on his days off. So i have a good one to line up now i need o bet him some money.

Dont under estimate the cummins. I have a friend, Martin Saine, who has a 94 long bed king cab 2WD cummins. He runs mid 8's in the 1/8th with it. Has not run the 1/4, but he cuts 2.4 60' times. The last dyno he put down was 700+hp, and 1200+Tq before the dyno straps broke.

I got my ass handed to me by a 2500 one from a 45 roll in my car one day. Just because it was at that perfect gray area, top of 1st, bottom of 2nd.. :roll:

I havent had any problems with most things in my truck, as soon as I get about -5lbs and my turbo's louder then theirs, they dont want any. :lol:

I love Dodge cummins owners. They throw a bully dog system, and an exhaust on there and they think it will smoke anything. I know one guy thats a big dodge fan, he busts my chops about owning a "turbocharged minivan" and praises his truck likes its some phenomenon. Good kill!

It is because we pay so much for the dodge with the cummins avg. cost is like 37 grand. The cummins motor option alone is 6 grand. I'd have to admit it moves for a big truck.

The only dodge truck worth having for performance in the diesel category is the the 94 to 98.5. Those years offer the 12v motor which like modifications alot better than the 24v does, and they have manual fuel pumps vs. electronic controlled. Further the 94-96's automatic is of the manual operation, vs. the electronic of the 97- and newer. Anyhow, the 24v motor doesn't have a prayer against the 12v in that the computer limits modifications. If the 24v trucks had mechanical pumps, then they would be hell on wheels. Anyhow, the only way to get power out of them that is respectable is to know someone other than Banks. Everything Banks makes is California Legal, and therefore makes very little power incomparison to real motor mods.

It doesn't take much to make a lot of power out of those diesels. The problem is they are in a heavy ass vehicle.

Theyre lame. SYTY's are for racing big trucks are for hauling, thats just the way it should stay IMO. I hate eharing everyone brag about how fast they are with 900 HP and 1300 TQ. Then you hear they run 13 whatedver. Big shit. I never hesitate to put em in their place.

I saw a Dodge 4x4 diesel run low 11's.Thing didn't look like it was moving fast but it was.Dude said it had 1100 TQ and I believe it.

See, that just doesnt impress me. There are plenty of cars or trucks out there that can run those times on half those power levels. I just dont get why everyone gets all big-eyed about it when in reality, its about right when you consider the weight and shear size. Ild rather go fast with less personally.

He is faster than you or I. Thirdly, he still gets over 20mpg on the freeway with a truck than runs 11's. Show me another truck running that with that kind of fuel mileage.

I wouldnt say Im knocking him at all. Just not impressed. Now when you talk about hauling, towing capacity, stuff like that that the truck is made for thats when I am impressed. But when someone says oh this great truck makes 1100 HP and runs 11's I just think to myself, I should hope so. You see what I am saying here? Im not saying he cant do what he wants I jsut think its funny how great a lot of these guys think they are when in reality its really not all that impressive. And FWIW, Ive been around Turbo Diesel trucks for a while and the gas milage is not what everyone says it is. A lot of these trucks get just as bad and sometimes worse than ours. It can certainly seem they get a lot when you have to get rid 40 gallons of fuel. Maybe the milage gets better with the more mods I dont know but I can say from experience, their milage isnt that much better in stock form.

Not to get in the middle of you guys, but I know a lot of people say the same thing about my truck, wondering why I don't just go buy a late 80's mustang and drop a couple of G's into it for the same effect. I think it's all a matter of taste persoanlly, we like our trucks, some people like diesels. :dunno: :2cents:
