4l60e and 700r4 differences

Hi guys,
Can somebody try and clear this up for me please. Quickstop uk has kindly bought a 4l60e back to uk with him for my truck. I don't have the facility to do work my self so ive called a guy here who said he isn't sure about the compatibility in my ty. i was told you just need to swap the valve body, is it that simple or do i have to do more?

I now can't remember if it is a 700R4 or not. Either way, you can swap the two in

4l60e is similar but no way near just a valve body swap

4l60 = 700r4

Notice the E, E = electronic shifting done by ecm

700 is done mechanically inside and via TV cable.

if it says "MD8" cast into the bellhousing, it is a 700, and will work. If it has a big round multi-pin connector on the pass side, and has "M30" cast into the bellhousing, it IS a 4L60e, and won't work.

now ive cleaned that patch though. ive got to start cleaning it all.
