Re: 8.76/161mph film /slip

are you the one who knows blackoutSS

Yes I was involved with that big impala in the beginning of -00 - 02 and helped to get it down to the 12 sec passes it did then, On personal grounds I stopped wrenching that car,

I was allready acuinted with Robert and we hooked up and are still holding on :D

From time to time I do som minor race"wrenching" to another -96 impala and some other types of racing amongst friends.. The car I do least work on is my own Nova but to do that I need a larger garage.

This aint fun

At what speed do you get the lift from the wing? I am just curious to understand how you evaluated it. Was it trial and error or was it calculated for x lift at y mph?

My first impression is that you get 0 lift in a launch up to about 30mph then you start generating downforce. I guess you must be spinning the wheels in all 4 gears?

I would be curious to see how a fin as well as a wing helped your stability.

I'm just curious - it's an impressive time and I love understanding all this stuff. Well done :D

It was first calculated in the warious formulas specific built for this purpoise, then we did some studying on pics from windtunnel testing on trucks and cars to get a "understanding" on what height to put the wing on, also the place from the roof is "not just placed there because it fits" it is somehow a gutfeeling and lots of coffee have been consumed during the headace and brainstorming in this matter

Then trial and error on track have been proving the math to be in the ballpark on theory..

Great car and great driver !!

Could you please let me know if you still use the stock front diff and if you have a locker installed or use the stock diff.
It would help me a lot and I would highly appreciate to get that info from you, as I
highly reascpect your good work and your experience on that car.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Robert, thanks a lot for your info.
I higly appreciate you giving such info to others.

What I like on your truck is that it is just beatiful and a very clean build
AND it is fast.
For me it´s 100% of what it can be !

Best of both worlds.

Keep on going !!! :tup::tup:

One last thing if you don´t mind me asking.

What tire dimensions do you use front and rear?
I see you have Hooiers QTP in the rear, not sure in the front...don´t see the grooves on the thread....so looks like you are running slicks front.
Are they both the same dimension and same tire (QTP) front and rear?
Thanks a lot in advance, again, for your info!

Thanks again for the info.

Why are you running a DR front?
Is it only because of the 16" wheel for the brakes?
I guess it´s a 15" tire rear and that wheel diamater may not fit the front brakes?
Or does it get unstable with a bias ply tire up front?

Maybe that´s an option for you to run front and rear both same tires
(just in case you want to change your existing setup):

It´s for 16" diameter wheels.
That´s what I think about running on my SY.
