97 GMC Synoma

It has been a while since I have visited this site and I thought I would give an update on my conversion. A lot has happened since transplanting the TY motor into my truck and as many people said on this board I went through 2 transmissions before I got smart. I have spent a lot of time and money on this project and it still has a long way to go, but I love the truck. Here is a list of my most recent mods.
Tremec TK-06 5 Speed Trans
130hp Nos Dry Kit
Be Cool Radiator
Tial 50mm Blow Off Valve
C6 Corvette Wheels

Here are a couple of recent pics with the new wheels. (The truck is dirty so focus on the wheels :) ) 17 x 8.5 Front w/245 45's 17 x 9.5 Rear w/285 40's

Preciate it. My thought with the NOS was only to use it for turbo lag with the new 5 speed. The XFI system will allow me to control the NOS. As is the truck doesn't really need it, but I want to see what difference it makes.

he using a dry kit and the xfi can dump more fuel depending on where the jet is it can actually act like a intercooler

Exactly. That is how it is going to work. I realize I still need to be careful, but I think if done properly it will work well and not damage anything.

Glad to see the trucks still around. I met you I think year before last at the Atlanta meet where everyone cruised downtown to that super large concession stand of a resteraunt.......I've totally forgotten your name now though :(....My appologies.

Hey Don! Sure is nice to know that you're enjoying the truck. I've been plagued with bad luck.
I got the engine running but now my tranny won't go into gear(drive or reverse). PEACE OUT>Tony

Its good to hear from you Tony. I have had my fair share of bad luck too, but for the most part the truck has been running good. Had it on the Dyno the other day trying to tune out some hesitation and it surprised me to see it at 396hp running so poorly. Turned out my rotor was bad. I would love to see where it is now cuz it is so much stronger. It will be so much easier to tune once I piggy-back the XFI system on it. Let me know what you find out on the tranny. Don

Looks Nice Don,

What kind A2A do you have stuffed under there? I can see it peeking out on the bottom.

Thanks man. It's a Treadstone for a 1000hp Stang.

Whats the story on that little shifter in there?

I kept the factory auto console and had it converted to 5 speed. I like the low profile look.

Re: 97 GMC Synoma

Did you just cut down the stock 5spd shifter or is it an aftermarket one? Looks hard as hell to shift with any speed/accuracy, although I'm sure the picture has the true location a bit distorted.

It's the shifter from the Tremec 5 speed I have. The pic makes it look tougher than it really is. It is tilted to the drivers seat so it did take time to get used to it, but now I really like it.
