Air Ride Control - Escalade

This isn't for a Ty, so if this needs removed that's fine but winter is approaching soon and I need a little help.

2004 Escalade

'Service Ride Control' came on and the compressor doesn't kick on like usual. I checked/swapped fuses to be sure. I removed the relay and jumped it and the compressor kicked on. I checked the relay with a 9v battery and it still clicks. Anyone have an idea on where to go next?

Could the relay still be bad even though it clicks?
Could it be the ride height sensors? And how to I trouble shoot those?

Just any ideas before I have to take it in would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Re: Air Ride Control - Escalade

I just went out and took a look at the shocks and the driver side one was flat and the passenger side one was full. I jumped the relay for a bit and the driver side shock is leaking air. If the shock is leaking air will it not call for air until the shock is replaced?

I replaced the shock but have no way to reset that code to see if it's working. Gotta take it in anyways *shrug*

I have dealt with a few of them usally the shocks leak and if not replaced soon enough cause the compressor to burn out adds up real quick, glad i drive 1992 technolgy

I haven't worked on an escalade system for a few years but im pretty sure if replacing the shock fixed it- just drive it and the service ride control light will go off after it sees so many trip cycles without a failure.

if you want to verify the sensors its simple- either get 2 big guys to sit on the rear bumper so it squats and after a few seconds the compressor should kick on and pump it up

Re: Air Ride Control - Escalade

After I replaced the shock, the system still won't work. The Service Air Ride light still is on. I took it in and they said it is something with the compressor, but if I jump the relay the compressor kicks on fine and fills the shocks.

That shock was damn near $350 and a new compressor is $500! I'm not sure what I want to do now haha. If I just leave it be, I wasted $350 on a new shock. If I want to keep going, I'll be in a pretty penny for fancy shocks.

Get tahoe springs and shocks and the problem goes away, AIR SUSPENSION IS THE WORST IDEA ON A CAR EVER

Re: Air Ride Control - Escalade

Check to see if there is a relay for the pump, if it's the same as any other relay part number and all just swap it out to see if the pump will work and if the relay is bad, that's what I would do IMO.

Read this article from Cadillac forums.. http://www.cadillacforums.com/forum...rvice-ride-control-message-no-compressor.html

Kick ass find! That guy described exactly what I did. If I jump the relay, the compressor kicks on.

Thanks for the find:tup:
