Re: Almost done!! Black on black

There is going to be a hood scoop over the stock intercooler for temperature reduction, tentatively.
2-3 weeks until completion.

Wow nice job more pictures

Thank you sir!

I should have more pics of hood, doors and inside of the bed. Extra S10 hood will have hole and scoop while stock hood will remain intact.
I am also hoping to be able to redo an extra grill in a very unusual way. It's going to be monstrous but unique.

More pics here...
I'm lazy. I like how I can post pics from my phone directly to this website instead of going thru a third party hosting website. We need that here!

It's taking longer due to installing new stuff like window motors and door handles. Its coming together. Slowly but surely

I have one slow window and one very slow window. Did the new motors help? If so where did you get them? (No I haven't even checked. Your post just reminded me so thought I'd ask.)

They haven't come in yet. I will let you know how they worked out. I got them from AM auto parts for like 23 bucks a pop. Door handles were about 22 bucks for the pair. Door panels getting new clips. Door get new bushings since pins are rust free and not worn out. Also got door rubber all around the windows. Just never ends! This was supposed to be a nice repaint, not total restoration LOL.

I have one slow window and one very slow window.

I bought Delco motors from Rockauto for about $25 each for the DD. The pass motor was original, the driver side gets used a ton and was replaced about 10 years ago. Both were very slow. I removed the door panels to replace the motors, and when I powered them up to position them for removal, they hauled ass. Normal speed. Both sides. WTF?, all I did was remove the door panels and they worked great.

Turns out the inner rubbers were so stiff from age they were binding the glass up. I "broke their back" with my fingers, reinstalled the panels and they've been fine for over a year.

It was the stiff rubber.

New motors are cheap, and not too fussy to replace if you know the trick to drill the rivets easily. (Blast the center pin out with a punch before you begin to drill. Use a 5/16" bit to drill the head off). I can do both sides in about an hour if I have everything on hand like door panel clips, replacement 1/4-20 bolts and lock nuts to install the regulators instead of rivets, etc.

But be sure to check the belt line rubber.

Very interesting. Thanks Dave! Will check the rubbers. Better than swapping the motors.

Paint looks great! Are you doing the cladding in a gloss black or a satin or matte black?

Re: Almost done!! Black on black

Nice!!! I plan on doing my cladding in the near future. I think I'm going to go with a satin clear black.
I'm running gloss black wheels and like the slight contrast that the stock looking cladding has between the body and wheels, just tired of the constant maintenance it requires to keep it looking that way.

I like how the extra layers help keep cladding intact.
Turns out doors got a redo. New motors, weather stripping, handles, bushings and painted stock mirrors.
This was just supposed to be a quick repaint, LOL.

Re: Almost done!! Black on black

Hard to show paint quality. Everything around is reflected on it. Got it back last nite. Ready for a good slumber. Envious neighbor shot 4 of my cars windshield with a BB gun. Soft tonneau coverr on the way.

Ready to hit some car shows soon!!

Thank you!

Spent a bit more than I planned but it's done. I'm ready to represent appropriately. Ill hold off on installing decal kit from Sportmachines for a few months.

I'm about to paint my Typhoon. I sure hope it comes out somewhere near this and I will be happy. I think I'm going to do a satin clear for the cladding. Great job!

Re: Almost done!! Black on black

In this picture, you can see some white marks on door and bed. Looks like someone took out their frustration on this truck for some reason. There were an excessive amount of door dings in the same general area.
