So who from the Ohio area plans on going to the Nats? I want to go but really dont want to drive down with no passenger. I dont think i can stay awake for 11 hours. So would anyone like to ride with me and share a room?

Later,

Keith

oh c'mon man, I was planning on staying awake for 24 hours :D (not sure if Mike was aware of this or not

anyway, how would you feel about meeting up with us early in the morning, stopping at a rest area to catch a few ZZZ's and then heading out again.

Once I figure out who exactly is gonna meet up and where exactly this is gonna happen, i can figure things out better.

Thursday caravan leaves St Louis around NOON - 1:00pm
Im working out the plans/times for Mike and myself and whoever is joining up in Pittsburgh as I type.

Im still punching numbers, but its looking like we'll hit Columbus, OH area around 2am, at which point we will probably stop and rest for about 3 hours and continue around 5am.

If we keep on track, we should hit the St Louis area (i-70) around 11:50am.

Mad Mike and I plan to leave his house in southern New Jersey around 6:00pm Wednesday. We plan to hit the Columbus, OH area around 2:00am Thursday morning, however we also plan to stop and rest hopefully just after Columbus at a rest area for about 3 hours or so, however anything can change.

I have yet to hear back from ANY of the Pittsburgh, PA people and I sent them ALL PM's so as far as Im concerned, they are not going and Im not planning anything around them. If they do decide to get back to me at last minute, they can either join us where I say and at our times or go by themselves.

So having said that, if Mike and I are not tired around Columbus, we'll keep on truckin till we do get tired, otherwise we plan on waking up and leaving the Columbus area around 5:00am to head down and meet the St Louis guys around Noon.

Now Im not sure where you are located, but the EASIEST place to meet up would be at a rest area off of I-70. Gas stations are kinda "shady" only because some exits have the gas stations 3 miles from the damn highway, I would rather put those miles down on the highway and not some backroad.

If ya tell me where you're located in Ohio, I can probably give you a better idea of when we would go through there, that is if you're interested. Depending on our situation (tired or wired :D ), we can call you when we are on our way.

Either way, its up to you.

Mike D and I are leaving Thursday from Louisville around 6am.

As we both look like clowns stuffed inside a geo metro we will be making trip as short as possilble.

If anybody is heading that route around that time and doesn't mind flying low. (Read 65mph aint going to cut it) let me know.

Where and when?Me and Joe Keller will join the STL Caravan Thursday.
ummmmm, NOON - 1:00pm would be the time. "Where" I got from another thread....

Plan is to meet you along Highway 70W around St. Charles/St. Peters area as the exits are large and we can just merge in. That's about 25-30 miles inside the MO border after you cross the Mississippi.
From what I could see on Crapquest, those exits seem to be around 222 - 224. Jason wants me to call when we are getting close and we'll hopefully meet somewhere on the highway, I would assume it would be best for everyone else to do the same.

Rather than stopping (unless Mike and I get there ahead of time) it would probably be best for the group in the lead to perhaps do the speed limit and the group catching up to step it up a bit.

I finally got some replies today as to meeting people in Pittsburgh. 1 isnt going, 1 is trailering out and leaving later Thursday morning, the last 1 read the PM and never replied, so I have no plans in stopping in Pittsburgh any longer.

Im in cincy....Babs

Ok, well the choice is yours.

If all goes as planned and Mike and I stop to rest in Columbus, you can take I-75 north and meet us by Dayton at 6:00 AM OR you can head out I-74 and catch us on the I-465S loop around Indianapolis somewhere between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM.

You'll have to figure out how long it'll take for you to get to those locations and when you would have to leave Cincy to get to us. If leaving that early to meet up is not your cup of tea, thats fine as well. Unfortunately its hard to make 100% solid plans when anything can happen out on the open road. Cell phones are going to be key, so if your still wanting to try and meet up, let me know.

NJTY, Me driving hour an half to dayton im going alone this time so need someone to fallow , so where in Dayton?....Babs
somewhere on I-70 basically.

Unfortunately, if it takes you 1hr 30 mins to get to Dayton, thats going to leave 30mins questionable, since you'll be leaving around 4:30 and we wont be waking up/leaving Columbus till 5.

Perhaps what Mike and I will do is try and find a rest area off of I-70 just past Dayton, that way you can just meet us where we are stoped.

Ill just give you a call around 2-3am and let you know our exactly resting spot and instead of us leaving from Columbus area around 5, we'll leave Dayton area around 6.

That seems to make more sense to me. That work for you?

PM or e-mail me a phone number when you get the chance.

Well, I am not sure how long the caravan will stick together as some invlved will want to drive a bit faster than others. But anyway...

I plan to drive fairly sensible 60-75 depending on how the Canyon handles the load. I'm taking it on a trial trip to work Wed to get a feel for it since it'll be the first time it's towed anything.

My trip Thursday will be as follows:
  • 9:30 leave home, gas up etc.
10:30 arrive at Casino Queen parking lot just before crossing Mississippi river on Hwy 70
11:00 Call Loeryder and get the scoop on times and locations
11:30 Probably going to be time to get back on the road... 12:00 at latest!!!
12:30 Meet up with others on west side of StLouis near St Charles/St Peters
    * (this time and location will vary +/-30 min. depending on others involved)
1:00 Hopefully back on road again
2:30 Columbia MO a bit short of half way possibly take break depending on how others feel.
    * (personally I plan to drive straight through)
5:30 Arrive at NATS and check into hotel
This time line leaves plenty of room minor setbacks so we can stay on schedule
Of course when traveling as a group you can only go as fast as the slowest member. I guess there might be a chance that it'll be ME. I wouldn't be offended at all if everyone else wanted to drive faster, go right ahead I'll be ok breaking away from the group. I'll have some basic tools in case anyone needs them along the way. Also I'll have my cell phone number available to anyone that wants it... JUST ASK! I am pretty sure I have reception all the way there.

Anyone that wants to join me before crossing into MO is more than welcome. As mentioned above, I'll be at the Casino Queen for about 1 hour around 10:00-11:30. I believe it's exit 3 just as Hwy 70 meets up with Hwy 64. It breaks off to the LEFT under another ramp. The casino is just down to the right beyond the BLUE BRIDGE (you'll know what I am talking about when you see it). There are signs as well so it's pretty easy to find.

Well, that's my tentative schedule that probably won't change except for as mentioned in above schedule. I'll probably post this same message in other threads so everyone has a chance to see it. Remember to PM me if you want a cell contact number to keep in touch during the trip and to help us all stay on schedule.

Thanks everyone, see ya there!
