Auto to Manual Trans Swap?

I’m not a Syclone owner yet, but I would like to be one someday.

I’m more of a manual trans kinda guy. Has anyone ever performed an auto to manual swap? Is it even possible with the AWD system?

Iv never seen a SyTy driveline so I cant really make the determination if it’s even feasible.
I would guess the Transfer case attaches directly to the back of the auto trans. In place of the tail shaft you would find on a normal rear wheel drive vehicle.

Any help would be great, Thanx

This topic has been discussed on several occasions.

Summary is, yes it can be done, but nobody does it, because you will go SLOWER with a manual, as you can't shift and maintain a load on the engine to keep the turbo spooled up.

Auto + Turbo = GOOD

Manual + Turbo = Expensive mod, for slower ET's

Jeff, Thanx for the reply. The primary purpose for the truck will be a daily driver, and a fun versatile machine in the twistys.
You can’t beat an Auto. For all out drag racing, but for me Id rather shift for myself.

Iv tried searching past posts for this topic, but couldn’t find any. If you have a link that would be great.

Truckless. For now.
A friend of mine is an Import mechanic, ie...BMW's, Porsche's, etc. From someone that knows, I'd stick with the Auto. I let him drive my Ty (have to appease my future mechanic :D ) and boy did he drive it, auto and all. Just because it's an auto doesn't mean you can't shift it yourself, and the auto definately works better to keep the turbo spooled, even in the twisties. I like near Wolf Creek Pass, CO...elevation of over 10,000ft at the summit, and my Ty will run over it at 90mph no problem. Could go faster if it would handle the turns (too much gravel from winter maintenence). The auto trans is awesome for that kind of driving.

Just my .023445 cents worth.

Serious about performance
I would bet the drivetrain lifespan would go way down with the AWD and high-torque turbocharged motor.

something about diving in to a really late apex, at 10/10s, balancing
throttle and left foot brakeing, and having the trany decide to shift,
unloading all four corners at once, would be interesting, mind you
4 wheel drive would probably be quite neutral (a la Audi).

has any one done any road courses ?
