Back Seat

Okay I know the back seat is the same as the S10/15 Blazer/Jimmy. It seems as though search is down too. Am I missing something dead simple? Why does my back seat flop a bit forward under braking? Could my seat be missing a spacer or bushing in the latch area? Is this a common issue? I finally had enough and started looking at it but can't find any faults.

Re: Back Seat

Do you have the spring loaded flap that covers the gap between the floor and the seat. It would hold pressure against the back of the seat. The spring In mine is pretty strong. It's just a guess.

Re: Back Seat

I never saw the kit, but wasn't it just a couple bellville washers that added enough friction to the pivot that the seat didn't flop?

Re: Back Seat

Yeah my spring loaded flap thing is tight as hell. Would like to know more about that "kit" though.Wonder if there is a part number to hunt for, or a simple kit to reproduce?

Re: Back Seat

No doubt it's out of stock and obsolete. Still the parts breakdown and or a drawing has to be out there somewhere.

Re: Back Seat

Thanks. We can see at least HOW to fix that, and maybe think out some custom solution.

Re: Back Seat

Thanks much for the instructions and images. As anryo said above. It could be a good start to fab something from. Finding this in ant old GM parts stock stashed away at a dealership or warehouse is probably now impossible. But maybe there is an installed kit rusting away in a junkyard, could be used to reproduce these parts by someone or some SyTy niche shop with the correct resources and enough of a group of people interested. Now I know what to look for at least.

Re: Back Seat

After looking at the diagrams and instructions it looks like the brackets #s 7 and 8 can be fabbed up and purchace the threaded ball plunger #6 from whatever online source (MSC Direct Grainger...). Part #9 should already be in the truck and may just need modifying (perhaps that can be bought individually if needed). Not saying figuring out alignment, etc... will be easy by no means. Critical/time consuming stuff will be getting the notch in part #8 depth and alignment right. Still I may make a few junk yard runs before attempting to fab this up. It gives me an excuse to go "Shopping"

Re: Back Seat

HAHA! Are you thinking Top Gear's Richard Hammond's convertible Miata Limo style (seat near the tailgate facing forward), or Subaru Brat style? Hmmm.... Syclone engine/drivetrain swap into a Brat...
