Re: Bad Idle, Help Needed

im having the same issue with mine as we speak... the problem came about RIGHT after i got my turbo back from TURBOCHARGERS.COM . they had to rebuild it TWICE!!! But mines a high mileage block. but we did Forged rods and pistons. eric marshalls Velosyty chip 60#ers 3bar map and alchy all last year. there was an idle issue upon first starting the car. however once that was worked out it ran great, all the way up to the turbo going out a couple months ago. now back to erics stock tune with my brand new stock turbo and the idle is doing the exact same thing. it cleans up after new plugs and wires for about 2 or 3 pulls then runs rough again. when i find the problem ill get back to youz guyz

Just a thought here...
Have you tried running your truck without alcohol injection(recalibrate accordingy of course) to see if runs smooth longer? Spark plugs do not withstand alcohol for too long as it is very corrosive. What are you using, BTW? Straight or water mix? Alcohol injection works great but requires more maintenance. Kills plugs fast wonder what else is there to eat up internally.

Re: Bad Idle, Help Needed

To the OP,
Don't know for a fact but A/C-heater controls use vacuum to operate. Vacuum leaks can present themselves there as well. Worth spending time to check those hoses out to take them out if the equation.

When it idles out of range, what is the boost gauge reading? I would also check the CEL bulb to see if it works and is actually there(can be removed/disabled to mask a problem).
Hope they find a cheap fix for you at the shop!

Check for trouble codes anyway.

I've had a bad idle issue for a long time now. Engine idles high, drops to almost stalling and then back up again. Some times it stalls when you put it in gear, sometimes it don't. I have checked all vacuum lines and cannot find a leak. I just replaced the plugs and wires last week.

Once while running, it went into a mode where it idled absolutely perfect with no miss but every time you went to touch the gas it would want to shut off and then it went back into the other mode. Once, a while ago, I changed the iac and it did not help so I put the factory one in.

I have no scan tool, datamater or any type of tuning tools. I need someone to look at my truck and help me diagnose the problem. I would rather them come to my house but I guess I could travel a short distance to their house.

I have read hundreds of post and tried lots of things on my own but it still runs like crap at ide. Wot performance is great. Just fluctiating idle and stalling. PLEASE, someone help........Fred
