Battery Cutoff Switch

I have relocated the battery to the back of my Ty. Drag strip wants me to install a battery cutoff switch which is easy to do except for the alternator cutoff. Does anyone know of an easy way of doing this without running the alternator wire all the way to the back of the truck to the cutoff switch?

you get do it the easy way and just run a wire as your ECM-B fuse. it will kill the truck, and they are happy.

Get one of the 4 pole switches (kills 2 circuits at once) that is used for this purpose, it'll make this easy.

I'd use the battery ground, since it'd be safer to run that line over to the switch, even though that is not the NHRA mandated method. Screw them though, use common sense, running the battery hot lead is just asking for issues IMO.

So a cut out switch using the ground is not nhra approved, that is what i am doing as well, did not want to do the positive . Where are you guys that have done this on a sy or ty putting the switch? The bottom of the cladding, or by the lic. plate?

On my old Sy, I took out one of the license plate bulbs, put the switch there, just make sure you have some clear indication that the switch is there... could have a magnetic bumper sticker to put on the tailgate for when you need to have it on for the strip even.

If you are worried about NHRA rules because you are using a ground, just use red cable or red heat shrink on the ends. They will never know.

I put my battery on the pass side front of the bed (Sy), switch right next to it. Pull cable (bicycle cable) that has red handle can be hung out on top of the tailgate, between it & tonneau, is connected to switch lever. Pull & its OFF, have to reach in the bed to reset. Tech ok'ed it, can coil the cable w/ handle out of sight for normal use; I Velcro'ed it to the fender well right next to the switch. Plus = very short cable runs to the switch. Double pole type to kill the ECM also.

Since my battery is located at the rear of the truck now, couldn't I run the fuel pump power through the second pole on a 2-pole kill switch? Should be easy to do since the fuel pump is located at the rear and the wire runs would be short.
