Benz S500 gets toasted

OK, I was just coming back from Safeway with a couple of bottles of distilled water and when I turned onto San Tomas this corporate type and his buddy squeal the tires in their new Mercedes S500. I stayed back and to my delight we caught the next light. It's the one just before El Camino and heading that way. So I rolled up next to him and I just knew this guy was going to race me. I got "the vibe" he he. So light goes green and I just eased into first without boosting up or anything. He was right there and then we both hit it from about 15 mph. I just walked away all the way up to about 95 or so and then shut it down; it wasn't even close. He did the obligatory fly-by and I was laughing my head off. My little S15 just embarrassed his $100,000 dollar car  One of these days I hope I line up with an E55; those are quick little bastards too. Already raced an ML55 a while back and he gave me a serious run for my money from a dead stop. That was when my truck wasn't running quite right but those SUVs haul ass, trust me. An S600 would have been a better race but I'll take what I can get. This is exactly what I raced:

I wanted to race this kid in an AMG ML55 at the track, but he couldnt' cause he was there with a special Club and could only race with his group. Well, he couldn't believe that my truck was stock ('cept for chip and airfilter) cause I kept running 13.5's and one 13.4, and on his first run, he ran a 15.5 and then got it down to a 15 flat.

I liked it when we first got there in the tech lanes, I asked him if it was fast. He said, "Yeah, it's the fastest SUV, until the Porsche SUV comes out." I asked him, "What about the Typhoon?" He said, "What's a Typhoon." I responded, "Oh, an SUV that GMC made back in 92 and 93." then I asked him if he wanted to race, and he asked...."What do you have?" "A Typhoon", I responded.

Well, needless to say we didn't get to go heads up, but I think he knows better than to try and race a Typhoon.

No, I'm talking fact. (you're the one talking smack) He said it was fastest (I didn't), he didn't know what a Typhoon was. (He does now)

If his 5000 lb truck is slow from a start, then he probably stick to topend racing, not 1/4 mile drag racing, right?

not sure what your point is.... he ran a 5,000 lbs benz and beat it.. now he telling eveyone and your taking his side.... sorta be like me saying i ran a ford crown vic in a viper and beat him....showed that guy...

as for the top end im not the guy so i dont know what or how he wanted to race.... All i know is my benz runs 15.5 @98 with 2.8 60 foot.... They suck down low.... but from 60 on im dead with a new LS1 car and 155mph (speed limitor) im tuning 4,200 rpm....

also who said anything about the 1/4

well since this is a sy/ty forum, and almost every kill story is from a stop or a slow roll up to 100, and considering people don't road race these cars, they take them to a strip and run them from stoplight to stoplight on the road, i'd say 1/4 mile time is important, so you can run to 155 mph... you're still running a 15.5 , i would't be proud of that, or come here with an attitude

Lighten up - yeah, 1/4 mile times are important to some of us but leave room to respect other fine pieces of machinery. I do happen to do a lot of canyon running (ie. road racing). Running 155 also means that you can probably run all day at 120. In my book that's not too shabby. I know I won't try that with my Ty (even though I do enjoy those bursts to 120).

We should just be happy they didn't gear it to cover our quickness.
