I hate rust
I'm curious about what is the better option when going 4 bolt mains.
should i get caps that have the tooth in them that fits where the standard caps go? or should i get caps that are flat on the bottom and have them machine the block down along the mating surface so the caps are recessed into the block a bit. Would form a lip around where the oil pan mates. Doing this would also mean a good bit of machining the caps to make the crank bearings round again. So is all that extra work (aka money) well spent for added strength or is a waste when toothed caps give the same strength without the extra work?
Also, I've heard that billet caps aren't the best option which sounds odd considering how everyone normally loves billet parts.
