Best adhesive for cladding?

Any good adhesives anyone use for cladding? My pass side front wheel opening seems loose only at bottom so I was thinking of using a good adhesive to keep it on.

If you are wanting to use adhesive to attach it to your truck. You really don't want to do that. It probably just has a loose or missing screw. Maybe a broken or missing tab. Look it over and find out what the issue is. If you find the problem is something you are not sure how to repair. Just ask.

The bottom of the front fender cladding should be bolted, before and after the wheel openings. Their is supposed to double sided tape on the vertical section just in front of the door.

Thanks that's probably the best advice. I put on bigger wheels and the front pass rubs a little in reverse when I make a turn. So I'll have to look and see.

I personally wouldn't use a adhesive/tape BUT 3m makes a thin two sided tape that replaces rivets for airplanes and ??? Very expensive. I picked up this sample from the 3m guys.......

Where would I find the super strong 3m?

I wouldn't want to use an adhesive tape that is strong as rivets. If you ever needed to disassembled it, you likely would have break the cladding (most cladding these days is brittle to begin with)

+1 The cladding is old. It will brake easily.

Re: Best adhesive for cladding?

If you really want to truly fix your cladding without buying new, I would highly recommend using 3M panel bond. I have used it to repair the front bumper on my SS and it is amazing. I also used it to bond my Trans Am scoop in to my fender. And yes, I have used on cladding tabs. It is absolutely amazing. You will need to buy a gun to apply it. Also, be ready to move quick, it sets in like 60 seconds but it will be good as new. You also need to make sure you buy the right stuff for plastic.

Re: Best adhesive for cladding?

I recently tore my ty down and did a respray. When I pulled my cladding off, it did not have any type of tape. It was only held on with the tabs on the inside of the fender. That's how I put it back on. There are a few small gaps here and there, but I don't think they were perfect from the factory. I agree that any type of tape would cause damage if it had to be removed in the future.

Re: Best adhesive for cladding?

I had the piece of cladding on the drivers door loosen up. The are round pieces of plastic (6) that are attached to the door and are wedged under the cladding. On my truck, the round pieces popped off of the door and where no longer holding the cladding on.

I use 3m 5895 EZ sand flexible parts repair. It comes in tubes and you don't need special tool to dispense it. You just squeeze out the amount of material you want in equal amounts from each tube and mix them together.

It makes a good bond and will flex just like your cladding does.
