Best Drag Radials

Time for tires. I want to put drag radials on all 4 corners. Not my daily driver so fair weather only.

Anyone have any recommendations?

BFG?
Nitto?
Others?

I just got me a set of BFG drag radials on ALL corners last week. 275/40/17 and 315/35/17 on ZR1 Wheels(17x9.5 and 17x11 respectively).

Took it to the strip Friday night and pulled a 1.67 60'. That was my only boosted launch so I have to think there is an even better 60' in my future! 8) Drove it around some on the street as well and the truck seems to ride and handle quite good. Like you, mine is just a fair weather toy, so I'm not really worried about tire wear or wet traction. BTW, they also look KILLER on the truck - Nice and Wide!

BFGs can hook better then nittos

Myself, I have BFG drag radials and a few years ago I pulled a 1.60 and front tires in the air! The key with them is not to warm them up a lot!

I am looking into wheels and tires also. I am frying my 245 17's and getting 1.8 60 fts. My concern with bfg or nitto drag radials is handling. Several f-bodies and pony owners that I know do not like the way they handle.

Nitto came out with a new extreme 2 series that as a 100 compound (same as their drag radial) but with the performance sidewall of the 555 extreme. The first (and only) size released is a 275-40-17. The 315-35-17 is being released in January. Several f-bodies in my town have the 275-40-17s and really like them.

The other complaints on the bfg drag radials is the fast wear over the nittos. They heat up and wear just driving them around.

I am leaning towards the new nittos as my sled weights in @ 4,300lbs and I am concerned about the sidewalls on the drag radials.

I would be interested in any feed back from those with some milage on either the bfg or the drag radials on our trucks. Especially a heavier Typhoon.

If you ask me I would have to say Nittos. I used them last year 245/50/16 all around on my truck. On the street they hooked amazing. With pretty minor mods I was yanking both wheels on launches. BUT at the track they did not hook so well. They hooked a couple times at the track pulled a couple high 1.5x but majority of the time it was more in the 1.79-1.8x range. Can't speak to much about handling pretty much only drove truck straight line 8) but i must add the typhoon did love the powerslide on them nittos. They do not last to long though. Mine lasted one year but I did buy them used. Take it as you want but I would have to put my vote for nittos for the street.

BFG's are pretty good, Nitto's suck. It's all in the sidewall, tires that handle well usually hook like crap, and tires that handle like crap usually hook pretty good.

Hey Hamrhead - where did you get your BFG's? I just got ZR-1 rims last week, I found the 555R's at discounttiredirect.com for both the 9.5" and the 11" in stock.

Tirerack.com has the BFG Comp t/a's but the 275's are on back order and the 315's are "low stock". Any other sources?

I was able to get the 275's thru TireRack. Got the 315's here at home at a local BFG Dealer, then he mounted up all 4 tires on my wheels. Tried to get all 4 tires here locally first, but the BFG Dealer couldn't get the 275's, so I went with Tirerack.
