Best Forum

Not to scale
Ive been on ALOT of forums. my buddy's have Hondas, cameros, and such and when they're trying to figure something out and im looking at there forums it is HORRIBLE. Forget asking a question about your specific need, all i see if "take it to a mechanic" or worse, horrible and inaccurate advice. sometimes, someone will come in and try to correct the other person, but then they just fight and argue, and then the thread gets shut down (its happened to me) People are jerks, and it seems like they would rather see you fail.

This is easily the best forum I have encountered. I have asked questions and been given friendly and accurate information, quickly too, i might add. There is a level of respect here i don't see other places. Theirs a few quarrels now and again ive noticed, but nothing like anywhere else.

I fear i wouldn't have a running Typhoon if it wasn't for this forum. This and the Code59 site are great resources, but as fas as new info this is it. No mechanic I've talked to knows anything about these trucks, or how they work. I talked to 4 places about my overboost issue and no one even understood what it was.

I just wanted to say thanks for all the help

Re: Best Forum

I think you should see a mechanic first.

+1

The members of this board are awesome compared to almost every other forum out there (for ANY type of product).

Re: Best Forum

while i agree completely.

your experiences are part of the reason, no mechanic knows these trucks better than the owners. There isn't any place we can bring out trucks, so we fix them ourselves.

most of us are gluttons for punishment as well.

Re: Best Forum

I agree! The five years I have been on here I am very self sufficient as far as working on my Sy. You soak up a lot of info over the years. I could not afford my truck if I had to pay every time I needed work done. There is nothing better than having the confidence of knowing you can fix anything that breaks. I owe it all to syty.net.

Re: Best Forum

I couldnt agree with you more. This is a great forum to get help, advice and how-tos for our trucks. I've been on other vehicle specific sites that are not even close to having the value that syty.net does.

Im sure my truck would have been a lost cause long ago if I hadnt found it.

Re: Best Forum

I bought my Ty almost a year ago knowing next to nothing about repairing/maintaining them. All of the members that I have interacted with on here have been more than helpful and willing to answer any questions that I have had. I've met a couple of SyTy owners through the board here and they are GOOD people! I know WAY more now and feel very confident now working on my Ty, all thanks to the syty.net community!

Re: Best Forum

Thanks! Once I went back and looked at some of my original posts. Big mistake. Never do that again. Embarrraaasssing. And these people still talk to me. Like others have said good advice abounds here. Patience to. And almost always if there is a difference of opinion, as in mine and everyone else :rotf: , it either resolves itself or we go off to return another day to discuss something different.

Re: Best Forum

One thing that I notice is that the members here are all smart people, and you need to be smart to own one of these trucks. You have to be able to work on these yourself, and with some guidance from this site, anything is possible. Go and look at the s10 boards, you will see some of the dumbest questions asked and pointless posts. This is without a doubt one of the best forums out there.

Archives around here are the greatest. Lots of great info. by just using the search button. However learning that way keeps your post count down. :(

Re: Best Forum

I agree whole heartedly. If this site ever went down I would be in trouble. This thread reminds me it's time for me to do another small donation......

Re: Best Forum

This forum is a gold mine of information and knowledge

Over the last nine years and it has turned into a mild addiction to checking in and seeing what is new.

I will have to agree with what others mentioned that if it were not for this forum a lot of trucks would not be up and running. :rotf:

Re: Best Forum

There are some really good car forums out there, but with most of them & this one too, it's always best to use the search function & check the stickies when trying to find something, because there is a good chance that the question you are asking has already been answered 500 times. I use one board that has a great nitrous forum, with tons of stickies on it with answers to most of the regularly answered questions already there stuck at the top of the forum. New people come on & even though there may be a whole sticky dedicated to spark plug choices & reading plugs, people always sign up, & their first post may be, I'm spraying a 150 shot on my stock motor, what plugs should I use. That's when some of the older members usually get kind of dry & post up about using the search function, or read the stickies.

Re: Best Forum

There is potential for less than 10k of us to form together, and learn off one another.

It sorta scares me when a long time owner leaves the forum ... LOTS of info lost when that happens ---
