BG, Waller, or anybody with Ultimate Chip knowledge.

I have an Ultitmaye chip done by BG for the 50lbs with a head and cam setup. I have Stage 3 vortec from McCoy and his Isky cam along with a PTE52. A friend of my has been helping me tune my truck that also has a Sy but with a regular version of the Ultimate chip. When tuning it last time he notice that Knock Count were like 20,000 on my truck and his never gone hire then 8,000. The other day I heard some knock and had no knock retard. I have been told that on the 50lbs setup the knock retard is disabled in the ECM is this correct and should I leave it this way? How am I supposed to feel confident tuning the truck when if the truck gets any knock it is not going to retard it self? Isn't that a little unsafe? We have both Diacom and datamaster. I can get a datamaster run for anyone that wants to look at it and might be able to help me. The truck right now is running 14.7psi and went 12.3 at 111mphs and during that run I didn't hear any knock and was running the Ultimate chip on the first rich setting? Any help would be great and helpful?

Bill,

I've no head and cam chip binary around, so can't check it, but I don't think it has no spark retard. Are you sure your knock sensor is in good working order?

1 - your chip is out of date, we should have revisions for you. there was a version or two that had knock zeroed out (this was in a 50# heads/cam revision ONLY... no stock injector, or stock motor/50# setup ever had that issue)

2 - your motor is completely rebuilt, you shouldn't rely completely on the knock sensor, keep that in mind; this isn't a disclaimer for the problem above

you can do that, or i can send you an eprom

if you send it to me, you'll ensure you don't f up the eprom install, as it's quite delicate

pm me for details
