Does anyone know the breakdown for the Syclone? Early vs late production maybe? Did a search and didn't see anything.
The known-original #2967, built on last day of production which I recently sold had the deep-grey grill and buckets like every other known-original Syclone I've observed. Anything painted "black" is probably not original to the truck.
The grill and bucket color is a GM applied, GM standard-production color. All GMC S-series grills with the grey bucket and grills were 'this' color. The grills and buckets were not painted at PAS. They were standard S-series parts available to and installed on the line for all GMC's.
I bought 2678 off showroom floor in early '92 and it was black but my second one bought in 2001 was grey. My current low mile one is black and the seller had two other low miles ones and one was black and the other grey. Just curious.
How "black" are the black ones? Is it the same black as the body color? Or a darker shade of "grey"?
This is the first I've heard of different OEM grill and bucket colors on Syclones. Very interesting. Let's figure it out.......
