Blitz SBD-id setup question

I just installed my SBC-id boost controller. I am running an upgrade Mitsu turbo with integral w/g.

Reading some other threads said to put it in manual mode, not automatic. I have it in manual mode with a setting of 3 and a gain of 2 and it gives me 20psi of boost with a quick WOT.

What settings are you guys using to get xx boost set point?

What gain number?

How long did it take to learn and control well?

Any way to check if the solenoid is functioning without driving?

I will check that the lines are connected correctly in the morning. Seems like it is not working at all.

Found my problem.

I clamped the w/g line with a blind hose clamp installation.

It will work now.

Still interested in settings and gain numbers to give me a starting point.

If there arent any responces, please share your findings here anyway, I'd be interested in the results you see from this controller

whats your build, and do you have datamaster?

My gain is set ~40(hafta check to be sure) and for 17.5psi the actual boost level is around 38(hafta check to be sure here too).

Non stock turbo but nothing huge with ext WG on X over. Rock solid boost.

In manual mode all the time.

I have Datamaster. I will try to get out and do some runs on the street if I have time.

The list of mods are a book. The big ones are:

Forged pistons
KB cam
upgrade Mitsu turbo
KB A2A
Modified KB cold air
Custom Hypertech chip
Dynomax SS muffler
KB AFPR
Nitrous Ex N-tercooler kit (not run yet)
ZR1's with Nitto Drag Radials
BLAH, BLAH, BLAH......

I will let you know how the Blitz works.

When I realized I had to run manual mode to get it to work properly, I unplugged the pressure sensing line at the intake going to the controller. Then I blew compressed air into the controller at different pressures to see at what "set" number it started to limit the gate at. You can tell by listening to the solenoid clatter. It was right around 40-42. I went for a ride and started to turn it up from there. I ended up at 65 to have 15lbs of boost. It took a gain setting of 5 to stop the spiking. I'm mostly stock with a cat back and cold air intake.

How is the KR at half throttle? Mine is severe due to the ECM adding to much timing for 15lbs of boost at that throttle position  . WOT is fine like it always was. 1-3 degrees depending on conditions. First gear is a blast now!! I'm really happy with the turbo response.

I didn't think the Blitz had a learn function?

Luv Boost,

"Learning" was referring to auto mode. If you don't use auto, in our case, then the question is not relevent.

Did not get to run my truck today :( so I can't comment on the part throttle KR.

Would a scramble boost setting help? You could set a channel for lower boost for 1 or 2 seconds then back to 15psi. May hurt response but may help the KR. Just an idea.

Hope to get some tuning in tomorrow

I thought about that but haven't tried it. The weather hasn't been real great here so test drives are rare. It was nice today but I had to many chores to get done. Using scramble boost will help but I hate to delay max boost under a WOT stomp out of the hole. I'm sure a little work on the timing table will fix it up.

Let us know how yours is when you try it out.
