Blower fan low speed trouble

When I started my Ty yesterday, the blower fan only worked at the lowest speed. We have frost in Norway now, so I really need to warm up my car :)
Is this a normal problem on these vehicles ?

I really like my Ty, but the reliability is really bad. Rebuilt engine, tranny, misc electrical failures.. I paid one tenth of the price when I bought my Volvo, and it is ten times more reliable...

Mine is doing that. Nothing that a quick smack on the dash won't fix....probably need to repair or replace the switch before long.

Could be:
Fan motor is starting to draw high current, getting ready to fail. This can cause overheating of contacts at blower switch, even cause the wiring harness connector to melt. High will be the last to fail because the blower current is not going through the switch in 'high' mode.

Huh. Thought I replied yesterday. Resistors are in evap housing, with connector on outside. Can see in this photo, just above rear left corner of the IC:
