Can you answer this: Why do you have down pipes exiting behind the wheels if you are a street racer and wanna be stealth (obviously you have TT, and you can hear the turbos), why do you have drag radials and different rims, and gauges and an exposed bed with fuel cells and everything else. I think that would tip off any street racer right away, I know it would me.

I was thinking the same thing.. i've seen plenty of 9 second cars pulling wheels on the street and you wouldn't look at them twice let alone think they were sub 12 second cars..

You are correct, the syty nats is not an NHRA sanctioned event, but KCIR is an NHRA sponsored track,,,,,,,even if the track is rented by a private party...what happens if a 8 sec truck without the proper safety equipment blows a tire, hits the wall and rolls down the track, and the driver is killed?......do you think NHRA would be happy with the owners of KCIR for letting the truck run w/out proper safety equip?......good way to lose your NHRA sponsorship.....just a thought.

I'll tell you exactly what will/happen's.

When you or a group of people fork over money to "rent" a track, you also sign wavers stating that you will not hold the track, anyone that works, or is affiliated with that track responsible if something happens. You sign an insurance waver for this reason. If there is a track that doesn't make you sign this, and lets you run anything, at any et/mph then it is the tracks fault and they are looking to get sued. So it does not matter ONE BIT if a track is NHRA regulated or not. It is up to the owner of that track weither or not he/she wants to do it. And seeing its already taken care of. There shouldnt be any problems.

I asked three simple, logical questions. Was given a very sketchy answer regarding an email that gave permission to break the rules. I knew that was a crock. So I called for clarification (called a friend at NHRA on his cell, not the track). Asked a few general questions. Never mentioned the Nats or what country the car was from, just Europe. Got an answer that contradicted what I was told on the web--no big suprise. Got the real answer. Still with no contact of KCIR about the specifics. When I tried to present the facts, everyone's KY ran out and the physical threats began. I was publicly chastised and an attempt was made to attack my character and humiliate me. All to no avail.

So the meandering continues...

I read the thread... It looked to me like a gay tit for tat by one non racer who needed to be "right."
Best course of action IMHO is for you to shut up, go to the nats, watch fast trucks run, drink, have a good time and maybe that cork will pop out of your ass; you can then relax...

so if you guys are so BENT out of shape because someone that does not even live in the USA cant run his truck because they did not do their home work(NHRA rule book) I will not bring my truck to the nats and everyone can watch Roberts truck SIT.......unless maybe he wants to go street racing

John

No ones all bent out of shape about this. Well, I take that back. If after shipping his truck over here, and then finding out he cant run it. Its not going to be our fault. It will be the person's fault that helped him with this whole ordeal. Or Robert himself. No one else.

I dont see what the problem is with this. You knew the nats were coming up. You knew Robert was shipping his truck over from the UK to the US. You also could have pm'ed him about his truck and asked questions directly to him about his truck. But you didnt. You waited till the last few days/week before the nats to bring this up and cause a pissing contest on the board between everyone. Its not anyones opinion to say weither he should or shouldnt be running his truck at the track but his own. Unless the track owner him/herself objects to it. Like I said in my reply above.

Everyone just keep your mouths shut during tech, and tell em your truck has run a best of 12.00.

Tech has NEVER been a problem in the past, I dont see why it is such an issue this year.

Bring a helmet, fire jacket, and long pants :)

You have to atleast prove your truck is too fast before they kick you out.

Re: BullySyclone

There are persons that really do not go to the track that often. I get where Bully syclone is coming from by saying that he built the truck for street racing.
A local guy here has two street only race cars. He has a chevelle. Not too fancy but is a big money maker. It's a very fast car. It will lift up the front and only looks like a low 12 sec car. When he wants to run for big money $10k. Out comes the 69 camaro. That thing is like a pro street car. Guess what. He couldn't pass tech if he wanted it too. In street racing, anything goes. So what if his exhaust is up front.
Bully syclone. Bring that truck to the nats. I would love to see your truck heads up against Robert's. Isn't Badnewz also going? Another 9sec truck.
I'm not taking sides on anyone. I just want to see the syty creations that have been built to go fast, and have fun with fellow syty owners. All of these fast trucks inspire me to someday build a truck that can rival yours (yeah right).

Re: BullySyclone

hey guys....let's focus a little bit here..

First of all, Bully came on here to explain himself...and that he did. He has told us that he wants to come to Nats and race Robert. That was his intention. That IS his intention. Forget all the other bullshit - that's what it is. Just like the race with Ed...let's not look for excuses why we can't race...let's look for solutions to the problems. John is right....we ALL have had plenty of time to get off our collective asses and git r dun. Robert spent a lot of $$$ to come here and run the truck on a US track - hopefully against one of our fastest trucks. I hope it works out...I really do. It is good to have some friendly rivalry. There is no need for ANYONE to get all shitty-pissed. I do have to agree with one thing John did state....if the NHRA rules are being followed and Robert's truck does not meet them, then he needs to get busy with the certification bullshit before Nats. Nats itself is not following NHRA tules and regulations, but KCIR is whether or not you are renting the track. Up here in Michigan, there are a few racetracks (Martin, Gingermann, Stanton/Mid-Michigan, Milan, Lapeer). It is common for companies like Wheel2wheel pwertrain, Stenod Performance, etc to rent out the track to test their project vehicles. They are required to meet all NHRA safety requisites for any vehice racing. It may be Robert's impression that because Swedish Drag Racing (or whatever they are called over there...) may follow NHRA rules, but you should have checked into that closely before coming here to the US. Please dont take that as harsh criticism...it is not meant that way. I, like everyone heading to Nats, WANTS to see you race....we want to see if your time of 8.98 can stand up over here on one of our good tracks. Hell, I'd like to see you run John's Syclone and see how it stacks up. I think people will shit brick ovens at that sight!

I hope that this thread will give John (BullySyclone) some encouragement to show up at Nats. I hope that all of us attending can get along with each other at Nats. I hope that we can all go to the track Saturday and gave a great time. There is no bitterness or bad feelings from me towards anyone..I just want all of us to have a great weekend together......and get laid and get drunk too...and waste a lot of $$$.

and the reason AAron called the track is because I DO NOT WANT TO GET DISQUALIFIED FOR ANY REASON or do I need to print that in CRAYON shit man read the words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Read the words printed on-line or an actual nhra rule book and all of your concerns would have been covered. Being that KCIR is a nhra track they use that same rule book so I doubt it'd be a stretch to say if you wouldnt have to worry about getting booted in tech if you followed the rule book.....and all without picking up the phone.

There are more than a couple fab shops local and a few of them I know personally. Ive never heard or seen any of the those shops I know call a track or nhra to find out if what they built would pass tech. They whipped out the trusty rule book before they cut the first piece of moly tubing to see what they could or couldnt do.

I am trying not to be a jerk but you guys just dont get it..........if I have to abide by the rules so does Robert and everyone else and that is FAIR...

Ummm...youre worried about fair? Since when was street racing even remotely "fair"? In street racing the only thing thats "illegal" is running your opponent off the road...everything else is negotiable...oh wait none of us know anything about street racing. Better yet if you think organized racing where its more than just a hobby or past time with serious money or bragging rights on the line is fair then youre in for some disappointment. Those guys spend more time trying to bend the rules or trying to get away with whatever they can to gain an advantage on the other guy.

Im completely at a loss as to why you built a truck to go after "the fastest sy" without picking up a rule book before hand and then only a week prior the nats you suddenly come to the realazation that you might not tech for your ET and some calls to the track/nhra were your only option to verify you were legal. So why with all this worrying over "fair" and "by the rules" didnt you reference the same rule book that the track youre going to uses?

.....and youre calling OTHER people "dumb"?

Re: BullySyclone

Obviously not to many people here have traveled across three or four states to go to an event only to get told by a tech guy that you cant run. Owning a dragstrip is a huge liability thats why they are sanctioned by NHRA/IHRA, you could not insure one any other way. As far as "Hopeing the tech guy looks the other way" goes I would'nt count on it.

looks to me like theres only 1 person worried about winning, and thats the person who is crying about the rulebook and whining that "if I have to do it, he has to do it".

Are you going to cry like a little girl if he doesnt have a proper battery hold down and they let him run? Cause that might be worth seeing. Otherwise if you and your life partner are just going to bitch and worry about winning all weekend, then just stay the hell home.

I for one wont ****ing miss ya.

Re: BullySyclone

hey man....look at what he wrote. He stated that the truck was built to street race...then a few months ago, he decided to prep it to be legal to race at the track, which meant NHRA certification. The streetracing thing was it's original intent, but it was modified just recently to bring it to Nats and race on the track. If you dont remember, he did take it to the track once before, and was promptly thrown out because he ran faster than his truck teched out.

Like bogey317 said, I would hate to travel even just 1 state away only to get thrown out because of not being prepared. Look at Robert...he shipped the damn truck half a world away....and to be turned down at this point.....that's shitty.

Again, I have no doubt that Jeff and Robert and company are, at this very moment, trying to get whatever they need for tech, so this may be a mute point. Just bring the trucks and may the best truck win!

again with READ THE WORDS ..........I spent alot of money to make my truck NHRA legal JUST FOR THE NATS, but I dont have my license yet and on the nats site it states that all you need is a helmet, long sleeve shirt, closed shoes and pants.that is a far cry from NHRA legal.....by the AAron has prolly raced more times than most of you have posted on this site!!!!!!!!!!!!
