Buying a Typhoon

I'm interested in buying my first Typhoon. There is one for sale for $10000 with 126000 miles on it. I haven't had a chance to drive it, but before I do I need to know is 126000 miles too many, am I wasting my time? It's stock. I understand that it is going to need taking care of, but I just don't want huge problems to occur. Any advise would be great. If it runs strong, what can I look for, for signs of problems to come. Or should I just wait for the perfect one, and pay more for it. If its running poorly where should i take it to see what is really wrong with it? Do I dare take it to a GMC dealer?

Thanks

you need to find out what all has been replaced. you also need to see if there are any mods. has it been wrecked? if nothing has been done to it plan on spending a bunch on it. i have a nice 92 ty with 85k on it for $14000.00 i will sell you.

Read the FAQ on the left under "Other Stuff". Keep reading the forums. Go drive at least three sy/ty's before you purchase anything. Even if you are driving things you wouldn't consider purchasing, it will help you get a fee for what's good and what's junk. See if you can get a ride or go through someone's truck who's on the list.

I would pay "more" for a perfect truck, or one that you know runs really well and has been maintained by someone on the list, than for a normal or bad truck anyday. The real question is "how much is my time worth?" because that's what you'll rip through with a bad truck. A good truck is tricky, a bad truck will give you nightmares.

If you have Datamaster, that's always a good thing to take along on a test drive. See how the Knock looks, etc.

Hey man, my advice to you is to see whats been done to it.TY's like to eat up front ends, ball joints, idler arm, pitman arm, tortion bar mounts and front brakes.I just put all those on my 93.I paid $15,900 for it with 70,000 on it,the body and interior are nice.I got a good deal on my car but I think I paid to much for the TY by about $3,000.

I just found another Ty for sale in the Denver area. Its a 1993 White/Gray, posted on Autotrader.com. Does anyone know anything about this one? It says it was just restored, with lots of extras. I'll try and get the Vin # soon. He says its great in the snow, is that true?

If it has the proper snow tires, a Ty should be good in the snow as any other 4wd SUV. That is assuming the snow doesn't get too deep and you keep out of boost.
