Serious about performance
Okay I had my transmission fluid and filter changed in my Sy. After that I noticed it didn't shift as hard at part throttle and it didn't "slam" into 1st in Drive when easing to a stop-sign. My friend said his Sy did that too when he got new fluid until about 1 week, then it returned to normal. Well now it's like a week later and mine does seem back to normal. Why would that be?
Anyways the thing I wanted to know the most, is my RPMs are different now. It still seems to shift about the same time (4275-4450 RPM depending on circumstance) but it drops a lot harder after each shift!! With my original fluid, under WOT shifting into 2nd would produce about 3325 RPM and shifting into 3rd would give about 3400. With the TCC Lockup switch it would be a little lower. Now with the new fliud, we are talking more like 3200 into 2nd and 3350 into 3rd. Which I guess isn't that much lower, but it's still noticable. But by FAR the biggest difference is when the TC locks up. Holy shit the motor bogs and the RPMs go down like 175 RPM! From 3675 to 3500, for example (on one run). On my old fluid, when the TC locked the boost would just raise but the RPMs would not actually dip down. Now on DataMaster it's an absolutely definite downward curve. Is that good or bad? I guess it's good in the sense that my TC is actually grabbing hard? My truck runs the same ET, actually little faster now. (Can't say if it's cause of the tranny.)
And when I went to the dragstrip, doing the TC Lockup switch really made my RPMs drop HARD. Way harder than before. The shift into 3rd felt like the normal SyTy shift into 1st, like the tires were almost going to bark. On one run, the RPMs dropped to 2875 on the shift into 2nd! On the shift into 3rd they dropped to 2800. The ET did definitely go faster and the MPH too, but damn that has to be way below the power band. So what do you guys think, is this good or bad?
The only other thing I can mention is that the mechanic adjusted the shifter cable so on the console the orange needle on the shifter lines up with the letter, before it was off relatively far. He said he only had to bend a bracket by the tranny pan, he didn't adjust the TV cable but I'm not sure.. Thanks in advance,[/b]
