Closest-to-original new tonneau bed cover? INSTALLED

Hello all,

My truck did not come with a tonneau cover when I bought it.

I'm a stickler for the original look and want the bed covered like back in '91.

What cover (brand and model) of today is most like the original?

I am looking at the Extang Classic Platinum.
Because it has the aluminum color frame, visible snaps and it appears to be a quality piece to boot.

Here it is:

Thanks in advance for the input!

I think the extang is BETTER than the original.

Sounds great to me!

Original-looking is definitely top of my list, too.

If you get it, report back on it. Need one for mine and I'm looking for original also.

Rest assured if I do pull the trigger on it, I'll give it a full review.

I'm just waiting for someone to chime in and say, "oh yeah, I've used it and....." it's either a dead-on match or ? ;)

I have the Extang full tilt. Looks like the original and easy to remove .

X2 The bows that cross the bed are rectangle instead of the round bars on the stock one. Bows are spring loaded instead of clumsy clips like the stocker.
The snaps have 2 positions (right side up or up side down) for variation in the tension of the cover. The cover is actually hinged at the front edge and can be lifted off as a whole piece. It also has lift shocks on it to lift it up which the stocker does not. It also locks under the bed rails when you close it. All nice improvements with a stock look.

Thanks for the full tilt votes, guys.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, structurally the perimeter and cover itself of the full tilt looks just like the non-tilt Extang bed covers? i.e. the Classic Platinum.

The original Sy cover's frame was natural aluminum color, correct?

The full tilt is black?

Thanks again!

Looks just like the stocker in appearance in all ways except for the Extang Full Tilt label on the back. Look for yourself: SLIDESHOW <--click here.

Well, I pulled the trigger on an Extang Classic Platinum.

Fit absolutely perfectly and everything that is near or lays on paint is foam, rubber or silicone. Very nice.

Super easy installation.

And to top it off, a big thanks to Sy-1193 for the Summit coupon!

In your lower pic, are the bows installed? The stock bows create a slight bump to the cover. Not flat like yours.

I just put mine on tonight.
Well, got it all snapped but the tailgate. Cooled off here and couldn't get it to stretch enough.
and yes, I had the bows on.
This replaced a Extang with the zip-seal. It was starting to rip along the seal, separating from the rails.
This new cover does seem thinner than the old one. Could be new lighter material.

The bows are there and they do produce bumps but the picture doesn't illustrate it worth a darn.
I'll get a better picture of it today and post it as soon as I do.
