Complete Stereo System

Ok here's the deal, since I'm daily driving 1190 I want a really nice functioning audio system with great SQ and a little bit of bass.

From what I've been reading though the aftermarket dash install kits leave the headunit sticking out ~.5" and it's rather ugly. I've also noticed this in my dad's '94 GMC pickup (which is the same exactly install kit I believe), that it does stick out quite a bit and is ugly.

Would you guys be able to point me along in the right direction as to a much more flush install kit or how to make it look "good," persay?

There really isnt a flush mount kit for these vehicles you can buy a kit bit you will have to pocket thedefrost vent pipe behind the head unit to fit

its a simple as using a box blade and notching some of the vent piping and using duck take to close to hole you made up, most of the after market kits for these vehicles were adjustable on the depth. I worked at several stereo shops for years and this is the norm for people with the same concerns that you have

Heat gun to warm the vent and a 2x4 to massage it Use a dash kit from a 98 silverado

Using duct tape to finish off any job is unprofessional to me so I would recommend not doing that. Heating up the vent with a heat gun is the best option.

Option two is cut a hole out of the venting and use a plastic bowl, like the rubber made disposable ones, and cut off botto0m to fit and use an industrial glue/gluegun (the black sticks of glue) to glue it in and seal it off.

I know I'm new to the site, but doesn't change the 16 years of car audio installation I've doing.
I had a 94 Bravada and did the same thing. I fiberglassed my own dash kit to hold the HU using the install kit for the those trucks and some plastic from a plastics shop.

you could get a 1 1/2 din direct fit unit. i got a low end pioneer one and it looked good in there till i yanked it for something different

Neither Kenwood, Sony, Alpine or even Pioneer list a 1 1/2 DIN (CG Chassis) head unit on their websites.

I used a heat gun, but I ended up with a small puncture. I used a little duct tape

If youre interested, I have an older Alpine CDA-D855 1.5 din Cd player in my closet.

It needs to be repaired, I think Alpine charges a flat rate of $105 to fix it.

It's in perfect shape, but the audio output 'ticks'.

I'd like it gone. If you want to fix it, I'll sell it to ya for the cost of shipping.
