i was recently looking for a syclone or a typhoon on craigslist.com and came across a black one for $3300, i figured it was too good to be true but i couldnt pass up getting more info. i called my friend who has been helping me look for one for some time and told him about the ad. he whent onto craigslist and searched for it and said he couldnt find the ad... i emailed the person that posted the ad and have not gotten a return. i searched their email adress in google and 7 or 8 ads for the same truck popped up in several different states. has anyone heard of this or seen this? :banghead:

Happens all the time. Happens on ebay too.

Gotta be careful, now-a-days.

Keep an eye on the classifieds here... eventually, you'll find one you like.

That craigslist sure has turned into a scammers heaven.

I'm not sure how they would make $ off of this. I always pay in person when I pick the item up.

They try to con people into "deposits" to hold the vehicle. Or set up "we'll arrange for transport, you send the $".

Try to get the low hanging fruit..

I got a reply...

Hello,
Sorry for the delayed response, but I'm in Glasgow (United Kingdom)
right now and I have been very busy. Anyway, thank you for your interest
in buying my truck. The truck is located in US right now and has US
papers. Why is the price so low? I am here in UK with my new work and I
cannot register the truck here, as it is made for USA, according to USA
standards. So all that I want to do now is to sell the truck at this
price, because I need to sell it fast(I already made a deposit here to
buy me another). The title is clean and you will have absolutely no
problems to register the truck in the States. I will tell you a few
words about my truck. Automatic transmission, in immaculate condition
with only 71,000 miles, VIN number: 1gdct18zxn0810042, rust free, no
scratch and hasn't been involved in any accident. The engine runs very
well (6 cylinders). The interior looks great (never smoked in). This
truck needs nothing, the title is clear. I want this transaction to go
smoothly enough as I am caught in the middle of some very important
events and have little time at my disposal. I already have tons of
emails so I hope you understand that I need to sort them out.
The price is $3,300 not negociable. I will take in consideration only
those buyers who are really interested in buying the truck, to be sure
that I don't waste my time with endless discussions. This way, I shall
be assured of the serious intentions .

Re: craigslist spoof?

That's a bunch of BS. We had a cadillac shippd to the UK and while you cannot import a new car from the US without some trouble, you can import into the UK a used vehicle.
