Datamaster install problem

Hey all, I am having a problem installing DM on my girlfriend's laptop. I get an error message box. Title of the box says, "16 bit Windows Subsystem" and the actual message says, "C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application." Gives me two options: 'Close' and 'Ignore' ...both terminate the application.

Laptop is a Gateway running WinXP. Do I have to change a configuration in order to run DM (based off this message)?

Thanks for any help ya'll can give me.

Re: Datamaster install problem

Do you have the latest DataMaster setup file?

That error message sounds like WinNT (32-bit) complaining about trying to run a program in 16-bit mode. Some older installers were 16-bit to provide backward-compatibility with Win3.1, but now it's so old that it will cause problems with the newer stuff. You can get the latest installer at http://www.ttspowersystems.com/DM_Beta_Software.htm.

It shouldn't need to do anything 16-bit, so I can't help but think it's an out of date DM file, or the file is actually corrupted (it's messed up, so Windows thinks it's 16-bit). Just last weekend I did a clean install of XP on a new-to-me laptop and installed DM with no problems and I didn't need any special tricks or anything.
