Sounds like a bad ground to me. Check both switches, one should have a ground wire one it (most likely pass. but not sure). Can anyone back me up on this?

race or get outta the way
try twisting the pin switch back and forth, if there is some corrosion on it it will then make a contact, seen it on mine.

That is possible, but then both pins would have to be bad. It is most likely that there is a problem with a common circuit between the switches. Checking grounds is always a good first check for in any electrical failure problem

I had/have a similar problem.

Read here: http://www.syty.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11930

Still haven't figured it out.
Update:
I did check the passengers side door switch & the wire (as far back as I could go) the other day. Looked OK, so I'm still not sure.
I think I'm just going to leave the under dash courtesy lights inop.

There should be two switches, one hot, one controlled by the switch. In addition, was there a black ground wire screwed to the inside? It might use the same screw that holds the switch in place.

Somebody must have a wiring diagram for this curcuit.
