Let us know how they work.

BTW- I envy you for all the sweet cars you own! ;)

Re: Drag Radials Going on today!

What type of drag radials and what size? Also do you plan on spinning all four wheels to get the tires hot?
Should be interesting to see how the 60' times change.

Be careful doing burnouts with the stock rear end. If it catches abruptly, it will break. Try running without doing a burnout first. Then do it with so you can see if it nets anything. I'm curious if driving through the waterbox will be more of a hinderance than help with the AWD.

At least the tranny won't. Also don't tell Jeremy about stock rear-ends and burn-outs. he doesn't have a clue yet.

I did find the best method to get the tires sticky is to roll through water, leave back tires in the water slightly. Then do a boost launch. With back tires in water they start to spin easier than on the dry, once spinning the truck will move forward (hard to stop it). Front tires will start to spin once back does, let off the brake and hold on.

The front tires should start to smoke if you did it right. That method gave jeremy his best 60ft times.

Re: Drag Radials Going on today!

It's not the burnout. It's the chance that he's doing a burnout and then lets off the throttle and the rear tires GRAB with little to no throttle. This can bust the rear end or the intermediate sprag in the trans. Please be aware of this. This isn't a weakness of the trans, it's driver error if it happens. Jeremy is an old hat. He would be less likely to do this than anyone else on here just because I'm sure he is aware of what can happen and he's probably seen it happen as long as he's been doing this.

I try to avoid the water box the best I can, but atco is nearly impossible to avoid since they spray between the hole in the wall you drive through. I like Englishtown since you can go around. my best 60ft was in the left lane at atco with no burnout on street tires, and the rear did spin a bit, but not to much. I would def try to atleast dry the tires off before you launch

BFG 315/40/18 on corvette zo6 wheels. Yes ill do a burnout as best i can.

Frank what tire size do you have on the front and dont you have the 9.5" wheels? Just seems like a very tall tire on a narrow wheel to me? Also wondering how far off they are from the fronts size wise?

Oh and are you still using the wheel spacers? Just wondering how safe they are with the numbers your truck is doing?

Good luck

Go here and put in Franks tire size and the the 245/50/r16. Looks like a monster truck tire in comparison. What size are you running on the front? Are you running 315/40s all the way around. Gotta keep the outer circumference the same or you'll cook the transfer case's viscous clutch. You probably know this already but just making sure. I liked that calculator because you can work with different sizes until you hit something really close.

Frank, I've looked through some of your posts and your tire sizes front vs. rear aren't even close to the same circumference. 6" difference is more than enough to blow up the viscous clutch. I don't know if anyone has warned you of this but the viscous is not a "buffer". That HUGE difference between front and rear will expand the silica fluid and either weld the steels together, pop the viscous casing or both. Just trying to help. Tell me to F*** Off if you know this already.

I was wondering the same thing. I would imagine he knows but sometimes stuff slips your mind when you are excited. I know when I was at atco last and saw Frank run the 10.9 he had the 9.5" zo6's all around with spacers in the rear. I was also wondering about what the spaces can take. I told him I had a wheel break off with one and to watch them so hopefully he took them off.

Good luck anyway Frank I hope you remembered all this stuff and got some new bests tonight.

Re: Drag Radials Going on today!

post some numbers when you get home frank. 315s fit fine on a 9.5 in rim, i had them on all 3 firehawks i had with stock 9" rear rims. i think the fronts he has are smaller but not by too much. he should be ok.

Re: Drag Radials Going on today!

Well i just home from the track! It wasn't a bad night the track was empty and the weather was so/so but i did get to make 5 passes and could of made a 6th but choose to leave so i could get home.

1st passes with new Bell tech springs and CBR battle bars.

1st run : 70% humidity 1.85 60' / 1/8 7.75 @ 90.45 / 1/4 12.09 @ 114.71 on 17lbs
2nd run : 72% humidity 1.79 60' / 1/8 7.44 @ 94.75 / 1/4 11.58 @ 119.03 on 18lbs
3rd run : 71% humidty 1.75 60' / 1/8 7.39 @ 95.02 / 1/4 11.52 @ 118.92 on 18lbs
4th run : 73% humidity 1.69 60' / 1/8 7.33 @ 94.76 / 1/4 11.48 @ 118.32 on 18.5 lbs
5th run : 76% humidity 1.75 60' / 1/8 7.45 @ 94.05 / 1/4 11.61 @ 117.64 on 18lbs

So pretty happy to match my best time again. Now it is Time to get with HARRY ANDERSON and get some Tuning done and come out and make the 10 sec pass.

Well we know Frank got booted from the track after his 2nd pass.

Re: Drag Radials Going on today!

Well as Ralph said I got warned on my first run of the night for running 11.05.
my 60 ft was a 1.58 thanks to the drag radials. I had to wait it out till the end of the night to make a final pass cause i new id be thrown out. I got to agressive with the boost on the launch and spun the tires 1.71 60 ft 11.04@125. Heres my video

I think some of you have my tire sizes wrong Im running a bfg drag radial in the back only 315/35/18 on 10.5 wide zo6 wheels and a 255/40/18 GY GSD3 on a 9.5 wide zo6 rims. There both 26.2 " tall. Ive got front BFG drag radials on back order.

Now i have to decide if i want to put a cage in or just run 1/8th mile..
I also relized that my AFR correction has been set to 11.5 the hole time so all the leaning out ive been doing hasnt done shit for me. Ive leaned it out almost 8% from my 10.90 pass and its not gone any faster. It figures that after i get thrown out of the track i realize this. Still no Knock too.

Re: Drag Radials Going on today!

Sucks you got thrown out. I thought you had the 9.5's all around because we spoke about the spacers in the rear when you ran the 10.9? Or maybe I am just confused doesnt matter just checking and I think you posted your drag radials size as 315/40/18 earlier so I was thrown a bit. Anyway I guess you could give Cecil a try.
