I emailed them checking on the whole truck. Anyone know these people? If that is a Blazer with a Typhoon engine they swapped a lot of small pieces.
Probably is legit but you never know.

Why are you parting out a 41000 mile Truck? Will you sell the whole truck?

We're not parting out my Blazer. My husband has decided he wants to have a V8 installed for some unknown reason. Who am I to argue?!
Thanks

I think Jim is a home builder and my dad does work for him. I'll ask and let you guys know the details.

Someone nneds to buy that entire truck from him before he hacks it all up, if it is a Ty. Why the fuck ANYONE in their right mind hack up such a rare vehicle is beyond me.

Its his money he can do what he wants with it, but his resale valve is going to going down the drain without those original parts. 41K mile Ty are still worth quite a bit.

I e-mailed the guy. Here's what I said:

I am writing you in concern as to why you are only selling the engine to your truck. If it's a Typhoon you have, with only 4x,000 miles, it doesn't make sense to sell just the engine. You would drastically decrease the value of your vehicle and also destroy a part of history. There were only 4700 Typhoons ever produced. I am just wondering as to why you would part out such a rare and collectable vehicle. If the engine is in a normal Blazer or Jimmy, it would be a different circumstance.

This was his response:

To you it may be valuable but to me it's a toy and we want to change it to a V8 to make it fast. This vehicle will never make us rich, so we prefer to have some fun with it!
Thanks & we hope you enjoy your Typhoon

Someone needs to buy a stock Jimmy and trade him. This guy's out of his mind. The truck obviously means nothing to him. What he's saying is like someone saying that a Porsche 959 or McLaren F1, although valuable to some, is only a toy to them and they want to put a V-8 in it. Someone needs to bitch-slap him. lol

Damn that's what we have all been missing!!!!!! The idea has been right there and hardly any of us thought to do it. We are all dumbasses
You need a V8 to make syty's fast!!!!!!!! Let's all take our rare vehicles rip out the turbo 6 and install a 350 with a 750 Holley aluminum intake and some cheap headers! Also let's get rid of that pesky AWD that's always breaking cause we all know it slows us down. Matter of fact that cladding is just weight so let's remove it so we can go fast. Wait a minute let's remove the body since it is nothing special and just slows us down!
:D
No really it is his but I wish he would take my engineless Ty with 96k and give me the 41k toy. Maybe if they really do a V8 conversion they will use a turbo'd Ls1.

I hardly think that a typhoon can be compared to some rare and exotic vehicle just because only 4700 were ever made! Typhoons are just a step up from the 4.3 N/A equipped Vortec engines which brag 200 h.p and these trucks float around at a dime a dozen. If you want hp, there is no substitution for cubic inches. I have witnessed hundreds of the Grand Nationals hissing there way down the track and honestly, they sound pathetic, but quite frankly, there is nothing that will beat the sound of a thundering 8 cylinder ride which will hardly idle. And when you get it down the track in the 10's naturally aspirated, then you can always add a turbo or two if your heart desires. Or maybe a little nitrous for a quick fix to get you into the 9's. I see no harm in dumping a partial eight cylinder engine for a real one! So the guy has a $10,000 ride, sells his turbo engine for two grand, builds a real engine for another 10 grand, and in the end sells his ride for 8 grand, wah!

yeah i know what you mean. i want to put a 502BBC in my syclone that cant idle, gets shit for gas milage, isnt streetable, weights a ton. but it will sound cool, and be a "real motor"

please, ive heard big v8s that can't idle, and have had glasspacks on every local hill jack's chevy truck. sounds like SHIT.

Its a little more than a step up. Its about 3 or 4 steps up in the accelleration department. 0-60 times are almost halved.

Yes there is substution, forced induction. Patheteic sounding or not, GN are still pretty impressive. A car that can run 10's and that can be driven daily. The Lumpy V8 maybe cool at the track, but it gets old in driving around on the street.

$10K in NA V8 isn't going to run you 10's in a AWD Ty, may 11's which is probably right around what $10K into a 4.3 Ty motor will run. Which will be faster will depend on what sacrifices you make with the V8 (ie carbed, Solid lifter cam) I am not saying the V8 doesn't have more potential , but until you add forced induction or NOS, the SBC v8 doesn't have an advantage over the SyTy motor.

I think you need to pull your head out of your a....anyway :D
Nobody is comparing a SyTy to something like a Lambo,Ferrari etc.
Wrong kind of rare and exotic....However they are rare in the truck world
How many trucks can you name that do what SyTy's do out of the box????
How many do it quietly with 19-20mpg? How many do it in the RAIN? And you can't include one-offs either. I dare you to name one truck that has the looks syle handling and CHARACTER that syty's do. The Ford Spark-o-matic comes close but misses out on the AWD fun. And tell me....How many TRUCKS bring this many diverse, opinionated, and generally great 8) people together. So to me they are rare, the truck that almost wasn't the little black badass that can kill your "sports car" at the stoplight in the rain.
<SyTy Militia Mode Off>

Yeah the guy can do whatever he/she wants. The main point of posting that is so hopefully someone could verify the story/ or recognize the engine bay of his/her Stolen Ty.

Hey guys, chill out;
No harm intended nor was I slamming the Typhoon model trucks. I think they look exotic, have a sweet engine, and the awd makes the package. If I owned one, I would probably not even modify the stock set up because I would want to keep it all original. I was impressed with awd when I owned a 92 Vortec AWD Astro van which I purchased brand new. That was my introduction to awd, and I couldn’t believe the advantage.

A few years later I saw a Typhoon driving down the highways of Washington and I had to follow the truck till it pulled over at a view point and I got a closer look at it. I decided then and there that at some point I would own me one of those. Well, I did the next best thing, (notice, next best) I picked up a 4X4 model for $2000 and started my project. At this point I pretty much have it the way I like.

I have to agree about the launches in the rain, wow. A week ago I was stopped at a red light, it was pouring out. I came out of the hole at half throttle and about quarter through the intersection was able to bury the petal. As I hit second at 6500 the rear two broke lose but my fronts stayed planted. Well I shut it down after about a total of 4 seconds by which time I must have been doing 70 mph. I looked in my rear view mirror only to see the red and blues come on. I shifted down to avoid the brake lights and slowed to about 25. The cop had to try and get around the slow traffic and he immediately shut off the lights after he got around them, and finally he caught up to me about half a mile later. He followed me for about another half mile, and then turned on the lights.

After the usual, he says, “I thought this truck was stolen by the way you took off at that light, man did you ever go.” I looked down and said, “well it is pretty wet out so you can’t really go all that fast.” He said, “have a nice night.” I went over to him and shook his hand and said, “thanks for the break, you could really have nailed me”.

The point of this story is just this. Not the cops, nor the performance car owners understand the bazaar advantage of awd. That cop could not begin to comprehend what I had just accomplished, it was beyond his wildest imagination. He had no idea that I had more than doubled the speed limit and then shut it down and slowed without using my brakes all within the time that he barely reached the speed limit of 30.

This same thing happened about two years ago when a lady cop seen me shoot a light. It too was in the rain and she had no idea of what I had done. They can not see it that a vehicle could reach excessive speed limits and then able to slow all within a few hundred yards. What a blast.

I understand your need to know my costs to date, however if my wife ever happened to read this forum, I would be dead.

okay, i gotta get in on this one.
i say bullshit!!
10 grand in a smallblock - i could wipe every syty's 4.3's dick IN THE DIRT!
now, before everyone comes for me with torches and a rope, i LOVE MY SY!
but, in truth, i'd swap out the v6 for a 400 plus inch small block any day of the week, provided the sbc gets good efi, etc.
why? - easy - no piece of shit gm ecu and bitchy speed density, no bullshit with all our little niggly makes me wanna commit suicide problems, lighter - oh, yes, kids, it is - assuming alum heads - , ready parts availability, no heat issues, no lag, instant sick torque, more top end power, etc etc.
hell - my v8 s10 will eat my sy on it's best day up top - say, past 70 it'll literally walk away - and the sy is not stock by a long stretch, tho has nothing exotic either. and, in fairness, the v8 s10 is a 6 speed. but, what gets there first gets there first.
okay, come get me!
