EGR Valve

Well I got a new EGR valve for my problem and there is a lot of carbon buildup in the manifold. What would be the best way to get all this buildup out? I already did it with some q-tips but there is a lot left. Also, my battery is dead so I bought a new one and now I can't get the negative terminal off...well...I hammered it off of the battery but the bolt is still stuck in between the terminal...does anyone know any good tricks of getting that out? I think it's so corroded that it won't move. Any suggestions?

Re: EGR Valve

An instructor at school once told us that using an old speedometer cable is pretty handy for getting crud out of EGR passages, but I have yet to try it. Maybe some stuff like Top End Cleaner (GM) or Seafoam might break it up? For the battery....baking soda to neutralize everything, and PB blast.

Re: EGR Valve

Try to break up as much as you can, then tape the intake side of the mounting spot. Start it up, (the tape seals the vacuum leak) and rev it until all the loose crap blows out. Take the tape off, put 'er back together.
