Engine build questions,i need your opinions....

Hey guys, i have a sy im building up, i am unsure about a few parts and want your opinions on a few things. i currently have a stock bottom end, vortec heads ported and polished. stock ex manifolds, and a innovative gt35r, older piggy back set up, romulator i think it's called, from what i was told the injectors are 80lbs, built tranny, tranny cooler under the bed, and a few other things that i can't think of at the moment.

Ok, here's the parts list i currently have:
*gonna stay with the current head set up, the previous owner said that it had ls1 or lt1components in the head, and that it was ported and polished using the procedures covered somewhere here on the forums.
*i need to find the best head gasket i can get or o-ring the block if that's better insurance for my set up, (anyone know where i can find a complete gasket set for our applications?)
*i have srp pistons,
*eagle h-beam rods
*no piston rings yet, i hear file fit is the way to go when it comes to rings, if not then i'll just use moly rings.
*i was told from a reliable source the stock crank is good up to 700hp, if anyone here disagrees please shed some light, i was considering the crank from syty performance if the stock crank wasn't gonna hold up.
*Clevite Performance bearings (not sure on the size of them, they came unopened along with other components when the truck was purchased
*Cloyes double roller timing set
*Melling m55hv oil pump
*Edelbrock hi flow pump
*i want to go with electric water pump on the rebuild, anyone have reccomendations or experience with them on their application?
*i have flexalite 210 fans for the radiator
*i recently purchased a snow performance meth system for it
*i am unsure of the cam i should run
*i will be using the turbonetics gt-k 650 turbo
*i dont know if i should make an intercooler or go with one from mccoy or sytyperformance or whoever, if i make one, id go with a Spearco core and do the piping myself from there.
*i was trying to get a group buy started with a rep from Stainless Works here in Ohio but he's no longer with them and the new guy mark, isnt offering the same deal as the previous guy. i was told the stock ex manifold are good for 10 sec applications but i'd really like to upgrade, im sure it'd make a difference in turbo performance and output.
*i have a pte 3" dp with 3" cutout
*i also have an electric 3" cutout (not installed yet)
*is anyone on here using a dampner on their set up? i was interested in using one for mine.
*i called Comp Cams (F.A.S.T.) about using an XFI system for the sy and they offer one through another company at a great price (plug and play), not purchased yet but on the way.
*full MSD ignition,dig 6+ box,coil,wires,ur5 plugs.
*arp everything

This is what im putting in this winter, i have to have it done by summer but, the rest of the truck doesn't need any immediate attention, I really would like to know what to do about and where to get:
*best head gasket, and gasket set
*electric water pump
*if i should use a dampner
*girdle if available for in the valve train, and down by the crank
*the best place to mount my wastegate if i should keep my stock ex? (for ex. at the end of the y, on the y behind the radiator,closest to the dp as possible, etc.?)
*what's the best boost controller

sorry for all the questions and info, i just wanna overbuild my setup, i had an eagle talon TSi AWD and the wastegate was mounted on the turbonetics manilfold, i know being a four cylinder the turbo and accessories are set up different but i was thinking on the sy to have the wastegate mounted after the "y" where do you guys have yours mounted?

sy1177 is helping with the build he's been a huge help so far with syty info so far, just wanted to get some info and opinions on my build from you guys also, thanks in advance for any input!:tup:

oh yeah, it's good i forgot to mention that, I used to work at Summit Racing, and one of the Tech guys there is my inside source on what's "goin down on the streets" and he gave me a heads up on that whole pump issue, at the time, he said that Milodon or Moroso woulda been alternates but, Melling has the issue resolved now and everything should be on the up and up with their pumps, (i hope!!! lol), thanks tho!

You listed ur5 plugs. If you have vortecs you should be using TR's I use TR7IX's.

For head gaskets we use Cometics.
The stock crank has made over 700hp the question is for how long.
We cryo every crank we put into a syty motor.
Do 4 bolt mains.
Do a partial fill on the block.
A 6.25 fluid dampener will help it last.

The PTE down pipe works well for boost control as long as you port the exhaust housing.

FWIW Look into Federal Mogul AP bearings. I'm gonna use a Melling 10552 pump with the 3/4 inlet on my build.

ok, i'll look into those bearings, i'll double check the plugs, The heads were on there when i bought the truck, he said they were either the late or early style that used the same plugs as the stock heads. I, also dont know what to do for the Blow off Valve, i have an HKS SSQ, i noticed that new synchronic bov on the market that looks similar to an HKS SSQ but, has a piston instead of diaphram, haven't heard much about it but, im willing to try it if it's as good as the write ups i've heard on it in other mags on their project vehicles, i was also considering a turbo xs rfl bov, i had that on the talon, but i wasn't making the boost that im making with the sy, i don't know what the limits are with that one though.

does my build up sound decent so far? any other reccomendations?

im gonna run the dampener for sure, how about girdles up top and bottom? anyone here using them? i think mrsyclone is running some for the mains, not sure if he has them on the valvetrain. also, what about wastegate location, does it not really matter where it's mounted? i was thinking near the merge of the y pipe, but i've seen some no where near the merge, what's the best spot to install it? should i go with a tubular design? i know that guys on here are getting good performance with them but i still feel that they may be restrictive especially compared to a tubular design with decent size primary tubes, i don't know, that's just my :2cents: on those, either way i'd still have to mount up the t4 turbonetics gtk turbo to it, i think sytyperformance (i think there called rpm) offers headers with a t4 flange. not looking to build this engine asap, but it'll be a winter time build, i just wanna have everything on hand come build time.
