Re: Engine Problems

My first thought is, since you did the timing chain and had the distibutor out. Is the cam timing, distributor and timing set up properly?

Re: Engine Problems

Re: Engine Problems

When i changed the timing chain and Distributor i just put the new one in the Exact place the original one at. i checked and Rechecked it to make shure. and i even checked the Book to make shure.

just a 6

Re: Engine Problems

On the crank gear for the timing chain, did you have the 3 different marks so you could retard or advance the timing?

If you did are you sure you got it on 0 degree so it's not retard or advanced 4 degree?

Or, did you adjust the valves to tight?

Re: Engine Problems

Re: Engine Problems

I made shure it was set at 0 on the crank gear. i actually adjusted them 1/2 turn down from zero lash.

Re: Engine Problems

Re: Engine Problems

i'm with just a six. dbl check your valve lash. do it with the engine running if you can. back them off one at a time till you hear them clicking and slowly slowly tighten them till they quiet down.

Re: Engine Problems

Re: Engine Problems

ReAdjust Valve Last Again With Engine Running Backed them out and tightened them up until the ticking stopped
They were adjusted a little to tight because when i backed them out oil started to flow much better

Replaced Throttle Position Sensor
Replaced Intake Temp Sensor

BUT STILL RUNS TERRIBLE!! Nothing Changed

Next thing is Rebuild Throttle Body With New IAC and Gaskets

PLEASE HELP ANYBODY

Re: Engine Problems Updated

If i remember right don't you have to get the truck over a certain speed to reset the IAC when you replace it?

plain and simple, it's your fuel pump. get a walbaro.

bosch style injectors are desinged to run at 42 psi and above. the fact that your fp drops to 20 psi is all i need to know.

get one from detroit turbo, or another vendor.

the check valve seems ok, the pump is just dying.

also the other tell tale sign of a bad fuel pump is a blown ecm b fuse, and the fact that when you put a bigger one in, it get's hot.

hope this helps.

Re: Engine Problems Updated

Many people have to upgrade the fuse when they switch to a Walbro. It shouldn't be blowing fuses left and right though. If you're having fueling problems and the fuse keeps blowing, it sounds like it could be the fuel pump going bad.

I suggest getting a Racetronix harness (or making your own) for it. The stock wiring still triggers the fuel pump, but it uses a relay and actually draws current directly from the alternator instead of through the factory wiring. That should put less stress on the factory wiring, as well as giving you more power to the pump (which means more output). http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6076

Re: Engine Problems Updated

Well i Tryed tuning today a little
I Adjusted the Idle Screw on the Throttle body

After it Heats up it runs better it actually idles ok..not Great but not surging so bad.
But i still get a BLM of 90 and Spitting and sputtering when taking off from about 750 RPM to 1500 RPM.

My Fuel pressure doesnt drop it holds around 40 PSI but my truck is still Running Rich..

I do have my thermastat removed Does that make a difference?

And how long should my Fuel pressure hold after i turn off the engine.?

Re: Engine Problems Updated

no thermostat can cause some problems with fuel injection. it'll also cause over heating cause the water doesn't have a chance to cool down.

a friends ty was doing the same thing the other day it was a wire going to the alt. was lose on a splice, just kept shutting down after a min or if the throttle was pushed down.

Re: Engine Problems And they are getting worst....

Well i fixed the cutting off problem replaced the Distributor with the original

i disconnected the oxygen sensor and started my truck and it runs Great
but when i reconnected all the problems started over could it be the sensor

I got a procedure off of here to do it, 99% sure it was connect terminal A to ground, turn key on, turn key off, disconnect. Not 100% sure though...

Re: Engine Problems And they are getting worst....

I was Reviewing Data from My Turbo Link and it shows my O2 sensor is alway about 500mv and never really changes is that bad or good?
